So, a limitation for a lot of people switching from Twitter to Threads are the security concerns associated with Instagram. However, many small businesses and individual users have built up social media equity over the years. What to do?

One route is to use 3rd party tools to export one's Instagram followers and reestablish them on a new account. Of course, there will be new account decay, but followers decay is a fact of life when running large scale social media anyway. The important thing is to manage the transition to a more secure account, and to separate one's business profile from one's own personal one.

If you use Instagram for personal use anyway, then your security situation hasn't changed no matter if you use threads or not.
