Could a total stranger land on your homepage and know who you are, what you do, who you serve, and what kind of results you get in 5 seconds?
If not, we need to talk.
Most small businesses don’t have a “bad” website problem—they have a clarity problem. The layout is busy, the headline is vague, the images are generic, and the visitor leaves thinking, “Wait… what do they actually do?”
Here’s the truth:
People aren’t patient online. They’re scrolling, multitasking, half-distracted. If your site doesn’t make sense instantly, they bounce and go find someone who does make it easy.
Your homepage should answer three questions at a glance:
💅 Who are you?
Your business name and what you are (agency, studio, practice, shop, etc.).
💅 What do you do?
A clear, plain-language statement of the main thing you help people with. No jargon. No fluff.
💅 Who do you serve?
Your ideal client or community. Local businesses, nonprofits, service providers, etc.
💅 What are your results?
A quick hit of proof: testimonials, stats, logos, or a short line like “Trusted by 200+ local businesses” or “Helping Seacoast businesses grow since 2012.”
If your hero section is full of clever taglines but doesn’t clearly say those three things, it’s costing you inquiries, bookings, and sales.
Clear beats clever every single time.
Pretty is nice. Profitable is better.
If you’re not sure how your homepage stacks up, do this today:
👉 Ask someone who doesn’t know your business to look at your site for 5 seconds and then tell you what you do.
If they can’t nail it, your visitors can’t either—and your copy and layout need a clean-up.
Tap House Media helps local businesses build websites that pass the 5-second test and actually move people to take action. If your site feels confusing, outdated, or just “off,” send us a DM and we’ll point you in the right direction.
