A few years ago, I lost a job I’d been at for 14 years.

The hardest part wasn’t the layoff itself — it was looking at my future and realizing…

3 months ago, I took a risk.

I started learning digital marketing at 60—after my third layoff in a decade.

The sales are not where I want to be. Still figuring things out.
But I’ve already gained something I didn’t expect: clarity.

Here are 3 things I’ve learned that I wish someone told me earlier:

1️⃣ You don’t need to go viral.
You just need to reach the right people. Trust is more valuable than attention.

2️⃣ Your story matters.
I used to think I needed to be an expert to earn income online.
Truth is, people connect with real more than perfect.

3️⃣ The hardest part isn’t strategy—it’s belief.
Belief in yourself. In your ability to figure it out, even when it feels slow.

This post isn’t about wins. It’s about growth.

If you’re feeling behind, I get it.
But you’re not too late.
You’re just getting started… like me.

I didn’t expect to be starting over at 60.

But after my third layoff in about 10 years, it became clear:
The old plan—work hard, stay loyal, retire comfortably—was broken.

I wasn't ready to retire... but I was done chasing the next job, hoping this time it would last.

So I decided to try something new: digital marketing.

Not because I had it all figured out. But because I couldn’t keep doing what wasn’t working.

It’s been 4 months now and I’ve learned more in those 4 months than in the last 4 years.

I’ve learned how the online world really works.

I’ve learned that you don’t need to be young, techy, or famous to build something of your own.

And I’ve learned that belief is often the hardest part.

This post isn’t about success—it’s about commitment.

You have to be able to continue when you hit the hard part.

Because someone out there—maybe you—needs to see that it’s not too late to start over.

If you’ve ever looked around and thought, “I was supposed to be further by now”… you’re not alone.

This journey is messy. But it’s ours. And I believe it’s worth taking.

Let me clear this up once and for all...what the heck is digital marketing?

If you think it's just ads or influencers peddling things on social media--you're missing the bigger picture.

Digital Marketing is just using the internet to promote or sell something.

That's it.

If you've ever:
👉Clicked a link in someone's bio
👉Bought something from an email or social media platform
👉Used a discount code from a social post...

Congrats--you've experienced digital marketing in action.

Here's what digital marketers actually do:

➡️Use social media to talk about things they love and recommend
➡️Share links to products, tools, programs, restaurants, places to visit or travel to
➡️Collect emails and build relationships with an audience
➡️Earn commissions or sell their own stuff

Some people do this full-time. Others do it to supplement their income, grow a side hustle, or replace a job that no longer fits.

🎯You don't have to know technology
🎯You don't need to get a marketing degree
🎯You don't need to create a product from scratch
🎯You just need the right system, tools, and a message that helps someone

Digital marketing has been a game-changer for me. Corporate America got 40 years of my life. But it won’t get my future!

I’ve been laid off twice since 2022.

The first time, it rocked me.

I eventually found a remote job with a global company and thought I was back on stable ground.
