In the past year, we had a pleasure of working with the young people at Lạc Hồng Performing Arts (), a non-profit Vietnamese performing arts group based in Westminster, California, to create the traditional pieces for our short film A Lone Lost Soul ().
They have composed the heartfelt song Nhớ Cha, which opens our film to lead with the beautiful sound of chầu văn. Since their establishment, Lạc Hồng has been aiming to preserve, develop, and reinvent traditional Vietnamese arts outside of Vietnam. They hope to bridge generational gaps within the community and Asian American lives through performances and hosting educational workshops.
This year, they proudly announce our organization-wide performance titled “With Love” celebrating our 35 year anniversary on June 22nd at the Saigon Grand Center Theater in Fountain Valley! The production will be broadcasted live on television and include partnerships with many well known Viet-Am companies.
It will be a night of traditional music, dance, and a celebration of culture. Set during the golden age, this cultural production is presented through a vintage radio to tell a coming-of-age story. Delving into the past, callers from the present-day dial in with a radio host speaking from 70s Vietnam. Callers are granted the opportunity to receive advice for their struggles with love and, in the process, discover a universal connection between worlds. Even though we may be separated by our identities and experiences from our younger selves, the notions of affection and love tie us conjointly.
We'll be there to celebrate and support Lạc Hồng on one of their biggest night! Come and check us out!
