I am still playing in the mud. Recently I completed pottery 3.0 – all hand building, continuing with an extended glazing class for the 4 weeks. Now on to pottery 4.0 on the wheel that will run for 8 weeks.

The classes are so therapeutic for me. What is great is that a group of us get together to create….no politics, no drama, no rumors, no hate… just artists inspiring and encouraging each other. More people in the world should play in the mud.

Pictures are of my 3.0 creations coming out of the first fire, a few close ups are pre-fire …. next step is glazing! I know my style is all over the place…still experimenting on the direction I want to go. Having a lot of fun!

Another issue of Heartland Living Magazine is out and I was thrilled to do a day trip story of the Dali Museum. I am a big Salvador Dali fan and those who have seen some of my work may see the influence. My friend Karen joined in the journey and it was great! I recommend a trip to the museum...it is quite surreal! You can see the magazine online at https://heartlandlivingmagazine.com/
Thank you Cindy Sebring Adams for trusting me all these years, designing Heartland Living Magazine

Hard to believe that 3 Years ago the Cattle Drive Sculptures came to Okeechobee. I am so proud to have been a part of that project. I was just in Okeechobee and it still looks beautiful. Thank you Okeechobee Main Street for taking care of the herd.

Pottery 2.0 competed at the Venice Art Center! I concentrated on slab pottery this go around. This was only a 4 session class but I was able to make 4 pots. I think a little of my abstract surrealism came out. I will be back at it beginning in Sept with 3 sessions running until the first part of Dec. More slab work and wheel work. One session is glazing techniques which is one thing I found that I am rusty at. Love playing in mud!

So this is a follow-up to my inaugural pottery class at the Ringling College Englewood Art Center. I ended up making 6 small pieces. My goal was to basically get my chops back in throwing on the wheel again after 30+ years. I did not plan to make all of them the same color but sadly the center received a week's notice that Ringling was closing the Englewood center so I had to quickly do the glazing. It was faster to pour the glaze and I just kinda stuck to the same color. As you can see - a couple of abstracts came out of it because these pots kind of started to collapse during the spin. Great thing about pottery, you can still make art out of your mistakes - something my high school art teacher taught me.

Yes it was sad and disappointing that the center closed but I joined the Venice Art Center and today I start a new 4 week pottery class - so the pottery adventure continues on!

The dolphin is done!

Hi everyone. As many of you know, I have been working on an art project for the Artist's Colony in Englewood - "Feathers and Flippers" sculptures. I have been working on this dolphin for a few months and it is finally completed. The sponsor of the dolphin is a fitness company, Boogie Chair by Laurentz and they wanted a fitness theme.

The dolphin will be leaving tomorrow in the late afternoon to her final destination on Dearborn Street in Englewood.
This has been a fun project.

I am proud to announce that I am now a member of the Ringling College Englewood Art Center.
