The new GetDressedGo is here! We’re DC’s one and only private personal styling collective.

Founded in 2021 by Kate Breen, GetDressedGo rapidly became a trusted resource for a notoriously unfashionable city where, confusingly, image is also everything.

Over the years, Kate worked with hundreds of clients of all kinds of styles, challenges, bodies, backgrounds, and goals, quickly realizing there was more demand than she could handle as a solo practice. At the same time, as a mentor to several aspiring stylists, Kate saw an opportunity to help more talent reach more people, using her signature client-focused, deeper-than-shopping approach to styling.

And so, the GetDressedGo collective was born! Talented stylists, trained and continually mentored by Kate, operating under the established GetDressedGo name, reputation, connections, systems, and methodology.

This portrait by the wonderful Raj of is the current hero image on the homepage of my website.

It captures some much about where I was in late summer 2024: really starting to feel the power of having started a successful styling business, looking intently toward sharpening it to attract more of my favorite types of clients.

Every change takes courage, and almost always it means letting go of something. To use this shot, I had to let go of the previous one that showed me beaming up at a “client” who was actually my best friend- that shot worked its own kind of magic for that iteration of the business.

I will always really love this photo with the chair, but tomorrow there will be a new photo, and a new GetDressedGo.

Thank you, favorite photo, for all you brought me. Here’s to energy and intention, continuing to work their magic even when the picture changes. 🥂

Can you see my wheels spinning in these shots?

They were! This was the day sparks FLEW for me and the next evolution of GetDressedGo... just before these photos, a morning of conversation and creativity with and got the ideas and frustrations out of my head and into the world.

These pictures show a founder in flow, a woman on the cusp of something bigger, and very, very excited about it! Stay tuned for the big announcement on May 14.

My creative storms often come after a long spell of quiet.

Late this winter, I was feeling uninspired, which isn’t typical. I sat with it, I went to Paris partly seeking a spark, I covered my office in post-its to sort my thoughts, and then one Wednesday in early March it hit- a burst of creative inspiration for my business, and a loud voice telling me to start with my office (which makes sense, since that’s where all the business starts).
m121 who’s been my assistant stylist for two years, gamely came over with no notice and helped me knock out this update in an afternoon!
I’m now surrounded by the art I’ve collected over the years, and meaningful mementos from the people who are always in my corner.

It’s been a wonderful place to follow my gut about the next chapter for GetDressedGo launching May 14!

I’m in my very happiest of places (Paris, bien sûr!) for a couple of days. Sourcing accessories, learning scarf tricks (hint: I am seeing WAY MORE neckties on women than silk scarves! I love it!), and working on a very exciting potential collaboration for clients who might want an extremely fantastique styling experience here… more to come on that! Paris meets Kyoto in the Marais- is another great independent jewelry boutique I found on my trip! The delightful and friendly Junco runs this little shop filled with Japanese creator accessories. So many styles and curiosities, and a little studio in the back where some of the magic happens. I’ve already worn these little earrings to death and I love the delicately funky nubby bracelet I got there.
