💔 RIP Yayoi Kusama.
Over the years, we’ve crossed paths with Kusama’s world again and again. In museums, exhibitions, installations, storefronts, and on our travels. We photographed it, filmed it, saved it to our inspiration boards, and always walked away seeing things a little differently.
That’s the power of a true original. Kusama took something as simple as a dot and built an entire visual language around it. One that could transform a canvas, a room, a building, a fashion collection, or an entire landscape.
She died on August 14 in Tokyo at 97, creating until her final days.
Today, we’re looking back through our own archive at some of the moments her work stopped us in our tracks.
