Brent Littlefield Congratulates Client and Congressman Bruce Poliquin on Decisive 10-point Election Night Victory
Poliquin becomes first Republican in 24 years to win re-election in Maine CD 2 - Now the only Republican from the Northeast in Congress - Washington Post reports "the most expensive U.S. House race in history" - figures show approximately $17 million spent overall on just this one House seat.
Washington, DC - Despite record spending on attack ads, national Democrats failed to retake Maine's 2nd Congressional District when Congressman Bruce Poliquin was re-elected on Tuesday.
Poliquin became the first Republican in 24 years to win re-election to Maine's Second Congressional District seat. Bruce Poliquin is now the only Republican Member of Congress in the Northeast.
Littlefield Consulting served as the General Consulting and Media firm for the race handling strategic planning, TV media, mail, phones, digital and social media coordination. Littlefield provided the same services for Poliquin when Bruce captured the then Democratically-held seat in 2014.
"Congressman Bruce Poliquin is an incredibly hard worker," said Brent Littlefield, "He barely rests in his efforts to serve his constituents. Bruce is an outspoken voice for common sense principles which will help improve the economy, deal with debt, and provide security for Americans."
The New York Times, Washington Post, and multiple other national news outlets noted the race was a top target of national Democrats. Even before Congressman Poliquin was sworn in for his first term, capitol hill newspapers reported Democrats were preparing to defeat him in 2016.
Poliquin faced a barrage of outside spending and attacks from national liberal groups and Democratic party organizations. While they spent nearly $5 million in their efforts, his opponent raised and spent nearly $3 million more in the effort to defeat him. All told Poliquin was outspent by over $2 million.
"We did not do this alone," said Brent Littlefield, "I would like to thank the Congressman's outstanding staff who consistently demonstrate a commitment to the constituents. Their hard work, under direction of Chief of Staff Matt Hutson, was seen and felt by those who voted to retain the Congressman. I also want to thank our great campaign staff and the leadership and staff of the Maine Republican Party who worked tirelessly to ensure we reached a victory. We also received support from the NRCC and national conservative organizations. Most importantly we can all thank the volunteers and supporters who contributed their time, efforts, and resources to ensure we achieved success."
Among the 22 Congressional seats in total within the states of Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine; Poliquin is now the only Republican holding a seat.
There is no doubt this region is growth opportunity for our party," added Littlefield. "I am pleased Republicans hold this seat. We must demonstrate we are a national party at all levels of government."
