To our amazing clients and supporters:
I don’t need to tell you that this year has been unprecedented. For me, it’s been deeply sad. In January, Massey Media’s beloved Arts Matters Director Faith Flanagan suddenly passed. Not only did Faith run all of our arts projects for six years, she was a true DC arts doyen and dear friend and is greatly missed. It hasn’t been the same without her.
In addition to my personal sadness, our country’s progress has been under attack by those in its highest office. It seems every marginalized community - Blacks, immigrants, Muslims, LGBTQ and women - is a target of fear and hate. Now this new administration is creating policy to oppress and regress. Millions are standing up in solidarity against tyranny, and I am one of them.
Starting next week, I am taking on a new role as Director of Communications for the National LGBTQ Task Force. In the job, I will be responsible for empowering activists, advocating in the media, and communicating the social justice vision of the LGBTQ movement. I am both humbled and honored by this responsibility. While I have always been a proud member of our community, representing the B in LGBTQ, this is my first job in the movement. Like so many others who are using their experience and talents in the struggle for justice and equality, I feel this time is critical.
I know you understand.
So, that said, Massey Media is taking a pause. It’s been an amazing run. You really have been the best clients, and supporters, ever, and your investment in me is further realized through my continued work in creatively broadcasting the vision of justice and equality for all.
Thank you so much! I am excited for this new work!
Sincerely, and with love,
Sarah Massey
