DOGE Officially Shuts Down on July 4, 2026
The Department of Government Efficiency, co-led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, ended operations as scheduled.

The administration claimed $215 billion in savings, but federal spending still rose in 2025, with many cuts simply shifted elsewhere.

Workforce Impact: Over 300,000 federal workers departed through layoffs, retirements, and hiring freezes — the largest peacetime reduction in U.S. history. This caused major operational disruptions across agencies.

Agencies are now rehiring aggressively, with over 104,000 new job postings in early 2026, including the IRS (up to 8,000) and State Department.
Musk left after clashing with cabinet members and Trump. The effort also sparked multiple lawsuits.

CW5 Eric Slover, Medal of Honor — Successfully landed a damaged Chinook while wounded during the 2026 mission to capture Nicolás Maduro.

SSgt. Andrew Wolfe, Purple Heart — Honored for his miraculous recovery after sustaining a gunshot wound to the head during an ambush by an Afghan national in DC.

Spc. Sarah Beckstrom, Purple Heart — Awarded posthumously for her ultimate sacrifice while on patrol during the DC ambush.

PO2 Scott Ruskan, Legion of Merit — Saved 165 lives during the catastrophic Texas floods in July 2025

These are metals based on 💜 heroism metals earned for their dedication to our country for their sacrifice for their patriotism 🇺🇸 these are people that deserve the Honor and recognition.
