Ever feel like you're in an endless race chasing a mechanical freaking rabbit? Hustling at full sprint, giving it your all, completely obsessed with "catching the rabbit." 🐇⚙️

Here’s what people miss. The rabbit isn’t real! It was never meant to be caught. But we aren't running to win a fake prize. We're running because creating, building, and taking action is exactly what we were built to do.

The race was never about the rabbit. Don't tell the others! You just have to trust that the running was always the point — deep I know!

Now, go find what your equivalent of this running thing is for you. Start there! Let the new Race perspective begin... again. Can't wait to see what you'll do now!

There's a metaphor about greyhound racing that explains more about midlife than most self-help books ever will.

The dogs chase a mechanical rabbit around the track. They never catch it. It was never real. It was never going to be caught. But the dogs aren't unhappy — they're not running to win the rabbit. They're running because running is what they were built to do.
If you've spent the last 20 years chasing a number, a title, a moment of recognition that would finally prove the work meant something — you already know how this feels. Every lap without catching it feels like failure.

But what if the rabbit was never the point?

Week 56 of The Rebel Onion goes deep on this — including Dr. Goodman's coaching on why the goal you've attached your worth to is probably a mechanical rabbit someone else strapped to the track, legendary coach Bill Walsh's philosophy of banning his players from even talking about winning, and the "curse of the white rabbit" — a concept from Peter Sage's conversation with Lewis Howes that reframes the entire chase.

The dissolved business. The plan that didn't pay off. The door that closed. None of it was wasted. It was the ground being prepared for what's next.

Stop chasing the rabbit. Run because it's who you are.

The new sculpted life I choose to create. ✨

We spend so much of our lives letting our past, our trauma, and expectations shape who we are... until you wake up one day and decide to actively shatter the mold.

No more looking back at the old lessons in sadness. We are reframing everything toward happiness, growth, and creation.

Chisel out that best version of you. It's time.

Here's the honest understanding about self-improvement that nobody wants to say out loud:

At some point, the next book stops serving your growth and starts serving your avoidance.

Week 55 of The Rebel Onion is built around a single shift — from growing by accident to cultivating by choice. And the cultivation that actually produces something isn't more input. It's trusting what's already planted.

If you've been in the loop of adding more — more tools, more podcasts, more frameworks — while the real work sits waiting, this week is for you.

Dr. Goodman's coaching this week is a gut-check on readiness. Boyd Varty's The Lion Tracker's Guide to Life reframes what direction actually looks like. And the core story is a personal reckoning with the wounded mind that keeps pulling weeds that aren't there.

The garden was ready. The gardener kept going back to the seed catalog.

Week 55: The Cultivation Layer — You Have Enough. Now Use It.
🔗

Week 55 shifts us from growing by accident to cultivating by choice. We stop chasing tools and trust what is already planted. By shifting our inner lens from wounded to conscious, we drop the clutter of avoidance, build on our real experience, and move forward in action. 🧅

06/11/2026

“We spend so much of our lives letting our past... our trauma... and other people’s expectations completely shape who we are. Until you wake up one day and realize you are trapped inside a version of your life you didn’t even build.”

Breaking out isn’t supposed to look pretty.

True growth isn’t about adding more layers or hiding behind more excuses. It’s a process of brutal reduction. It’s about having the courage to chip away everything that isn’t you, until you finally uncover the masterpiece that was always waiting inside.

The new sculpted life I choose to create. You are enough. Now step into it. Chisel out that best version of you. It’s time.

That was then. This is now. Issue #55 of the newsletter is officially live.

Authenticity

06/11/2026

Week 55 just dropped — and this one hits different if you’ve been stuck in the loop of learning more instead of doing more.

Inside this week’s Rebel Onion:
🧅 The Weekly Peel — The difference between growing wild and growing with intention. When do you pick up the tool and become the gardener? The Lens You Tend With — A wounded mind finds enemies. A conscious mind finds lessons. Same world. Two completely different kingdoms.
🎙️ Being Coached — Dr. Goodman on the Proxy of Readiness. You were ready before you knew it.
📚 Bookshelf Peeled — The Lion Tracker’s Guide to Life by Boyd Varty. Stop looking at the seed catalog. The track is already live.
🎨 Design Rebel — This week’s cover art, Bobbie Carlyle’s Self Made Man, brought to life. The chisel is AI. The sculptor is human.
💭 This Got Me Thinking — Michelangelo saw the angel in the marble first.

You don’t need one more framework. You need to trust what’s already planted.

It takes a lot of work to finally strip away the noise, the conditioning, and the expectations of a life you didn't choose. Taming the ego isn't pretty—sometimes it feels like standing exposed in an empty room.

But that raw space is where your actual power lives. Stop treating your past like a permanent address. Use it as a launchpad, let go of the bad memories, drop the future anxiety, and start building exactly what remains right now.

That was then. This is now.

Catch the full breakdown and join the collective ride at therebelonion.com (Week 54).

There is always another way.

For a long time, I looked at a secure, pre-mapped destiny in my family's export business. It was a safe legacy, but a persistent creative magnet kept pulling me back to art, design, and multimedia production. Choosing my own path required drawing hard, costly boundaries.

Now, one year into building The Rebel Onion, Week 54 marks a total foundation pivot. We aren't hiding behind old roles or dwelling on past friction anymore. We are pouring fresh concrete.

This week, I’m sharing the rawest sections yet:

🔍 The Deep Dive: Why identity—not compliance—drives genuine brand authority.
📚 Bookshelf Peeled: A ruthless, standalone breakdown of Greg McKeown’s Essentialism and why you must protect your vital creative energy.
🧠 The "Being Coached" Layer: Transforming your natural, stubborn defiance into raw fuel alongside Dr. Goodman to erase financial survival anxiety.
🎬 The Video: A gritty, cinematic short custom-generated using Leonardo.ai and Veo 3.1, manually paced in Filmora, featuring a heavy-hitting ElevenLabs voiceover.

If you’ve been keeping habits or projects alive just because they were handed to you, give yourself permission to let go. Stop managing a crowded life and direct your energy into the path you actually chose.

Join the tribe and read the full story here: https://www.therebelonion.com/the-essence-layer-less-everything-more-you-54/

Week 54 marks a pivot into our concentrated essence. Reduce down to our true nature, choosing a creative path over inherited legacies. Through essentialism, cut clutter, use our defiance as fuel to erase financial anxiety, & build what remains in raw vulnerability.
