Email subscription settings should include options like, never email me again unless it’s with a coupon and I don’t mean a drawing for a gift card. Or, no emails, please, unless you hire a really funny and clever person to send interesting little notes to us. I can think of 3-4 monthly emails I get that fit this latter description out of approximately 3,000 I receive. Anyway, if you need help on that I’m a clever writer you can hire to craft your business’s emails 😂.

Bradford pear trees. You either hate them, or you haven’t heard of them. So often when we work, myriad distractions divide our attention. An hour may be spent hopping around email, clicking a link for a sale, answering the phone, texting your partner, responding to a question from a colleague, and so on so that instead of 60 minutes of work, you might have spent 8 or 9 distracted minutes on an important project. I'm not here to criticize or revolutionize your day. When I work for my clients, though, an hour is AN HOUR. I set a timer and squeeze all the juice I can out of your 30-minute billable blocks. No online shopping, no texting - just your project. Quite honestly, working this way is how I manage to both care for a toddler full-time and operate a business, but it's also essential for the kind of deep thinking I need to do on a strategic project. It's a boring but **crucial** piece of my behind-the-scenes setup. What's your secret for survival?

At least once a week, my 2-year-old and I stop outside Fire Station 81 across from Derby Middle School and look longingly through the windows, hoping to catch a glimpse of those shiny, red trucks. Once, we even got to see a fire truck “taking a bath.” Of course, the story my child tells is that we saw firefighters taking a bath, which would have been a very different field trip.
