Sharon Schlerf has a long history of supporting active duty and military veterans, and is a veteran herself. She and her husband, Michael Newcomb, founded the nonprofit organization Beacon Institute: Veteran Pathways Home at the Warrior Way Wellness Center to provide workforce development training and jobs to veterans transitioning into civilian life. The organization also works with those who may be struggling with substance abuse or mental health issues in order to stabilize them for a positive future.
“We are community wellness center,” Sharon says, “It’s about wellness resiliency and holistic health management. That is our primary focus.”
Wellness services are offered to military, veterans, and civilians, and include support for the entire family. Read the article in the January issue or visit the website to learn more.
