Nonprofit ANCHOR Housing — Affordable North Carolina Housing Organization — has announced it submitted an LOI to redevelop Crystal Towers and ensure it remains affordable housing.

ANCHOR has submitted a Letter of Interest (LOI) to ASPIRE (formerly the Housing Authority of Winston-Salem) to explore the potential redevelopment of Crystal Towers in downtown Winston-Salem. ANCHOR recognizes the long-standing challenges residents face at Crystal Towers, and we believe now is the time to address those challenges with lasting solutions.

With nearly 60 years of success in developing and managing housing for seniors and individuals with disabilities, ANCHOR is committed to bringing positive change to the Crystal Towers community while ensuring the property continues to serve our low-income neighbors.

We're honored to have helped North Carolina Housing Foundation and North Carolina Housing Services & Management Corporation rebrand as ANCHOR — Affordable North Carolina Housing Organization. We also facilitated their strategic planning process, built their new website, developed their positioning statement... all the things. This organization does vital work across the state, and amid the current housing crisis, their services have never been needed more. Onward!

In the last 15 years, the Girl on the Roof team has served nearly 300 organizations representing causes we genuinely care about — like affordable housing, early literacy intervention, equitable education, employment for individuals with disabilities, reproductive freedom, equal pay for women, equal opportunity for people of color, beauty in public spaces, music education, support services for low-income single mothers and their children, support services for seniors and their care providers, resources for individuals experiencing homelessness, representation for at-risk youth, mediation services, emergency response services, mental health research, brain science, trauma recovery, gun violence prevention, su***de prevention, human trafficking prevention, civic engagement, waste reduction and recycling innovations, purpose-driven entrepreneurship, principled economic development, and so much more.

Girl on the Roof was honored to play a big role in 2023 REACH Women's Conference hosted by REACH Women's Network last week. We created the conference program, and GotR President Carol Reeve co-led the presentation of data from the Community Survey of Women in the Workplace. This important research is still ongoing. In case you missed it, the Pantone Color of 2023 is Viva Magenta. We've always been a bit ahead of the curve design-wise at Girl on the Roof. Our design work for REACH Women's Network goes back several years and continues to expand to include program logos. But the original palette holds true, with magenta (strong and bold but still feminine) and orange (energetic and works well with other colors).
