We love this reminder from Susan David: Leadership isn’t a title; it’s a way of showing up. The person coordinating the potluck, the teammate who checks in when things get tough, the volunteer who steps up without being asked — all of that is leadership too.

I think personifying this technology is risky, mainly because it creates real confusion. People start imagining doomsday, sci-fi style scenarios, becoming alarmed or even hostile about it. We’ve also seen legal complications emerge from this personification — when AI sounds like it’s “thinking” or “hallucinating,” people get fuzzy on where personal and professional responsibility actually sits, when that line should be clear.

I’d rather describe it plainly: the technology produced false or fabricated information. No mental health language, no anthropomorphizing. Just what happened and what caused it.

New byline in the Yellow Springs News: a feature profiling The 365 Project, covering this season’s Black History Tours, the Reparation Fund’s five-year mark and the deeper question of who gets to stay in Yellow Springs. Some stories resist tidy conclusions — this was one of them, and that’s part of what made it worth telling.

The Yellow Springs nonprofit, founded in 2008 to preserve and celebrate the village’s African American history “365 days a year,” hands its tours almost entirely to young people, some recruited as early as sixth grade.

The new clevelandwnba brand dropped this week, and we can’t stop looking at it. A siren pulled from Lake Erie, “CLE” tucked into the “S,” the whole “Hear the Call” thing — someone clearly cared about every piece of this.

Who vs. whom: the last survivor of a grammar system English mostly abandoned

“Who” is a subject pronoun; it performs the action. “Whom” is an object pronoun; it receives the action.

The quick test: if you can answer the question with “he” or “she,” use who. If the answer would be “him” or “her,” use whom.

Example: “Who called?” (He called.) vs. “Whom did you call?” (I called her.)

Here's the history that makes this pair make sense: Old English had a full case system, similar to German or Latin, where nouns and pronouns changed form based on their role in a sentence. Most of that system disappeared from English over the centuries, but “who” and “whom” are one of the few pairs where it survives. That is also exactly why “whom” feels increasingly formal and is disappearing from everyday speech, even though it remains correct in careful writing.
