A Dream Comes True: Lorine Ova’s Story

In Vanuatu, getting clean water every day can be a big challenge for many families. Mrs. Lorine Ova, a dedicated mother, knew this struggle well. She dreamed of getting a water tank for her family, so they could have easy access to clean water—a simple need that would make a huge difference in their lives.

To make this dream come true, Lorine decided to work as a seasonal worker in Australia. She spent six months working hard at Ausfarm Fresh, saving every bit she could to afford a water tank back home. Being away from her family was tough, and the work wasn’t easy, but Lorine kept going, motivated by the thought of improving life for her family.

With her hard work and the support of Ausfarm Fresh and the Farm Vanuatu team, Lorine’s dream became a reality. She returned home to find the water tank installed, ready to provide her family with clean water. For her, the tank isn’t just a container—it’s a symbol of hope, hard work, and a better future .

L’histoire de Réussite de Remona Livae : Un Rêve Devenu Réalité

Après seulement six mois de travail en Australie pour la saison hivernale, Remona Livae a atteint un grand objectif grâce à son travail et aux opportunités offertes par le programme de travailleurs saisonniers. Remona est très reconnaissante envers l’équipe de Pikfal et Junior, son superviseur, pour cette chance qui lui a permis de réaliser un rêve de longue date.

En décembre dernier, après être rentrée au Vanuatu, Remona a pu acheter un terrain de 2 hectares à Rangorango. Elle a également construit une salle de bain et des toilettes modernes pour sa mère à Malapoa. Depuis des années, sa mère n’avait pas accès à une vraie salle de bain ni à de bonnes toilettes. Ce projet représente plus qu’un simple confort ; c’est un symbole de respect et de bien-être pour sa famille.

« En 2019, j'ai commencé à rêver d'acheter un terrain », explique Remona. « Aujourd’hui, je suis reconnaissante envers ma famille et toute l’équipe de la ferme pour cette opportunité qui m’a permis de réaliser mon objectif. »

Le parcours de Remona Livae est un belle exemple de persévérance. Grâce à son travail à l’étranger, elle a pu améliorer sa vie et celle de ses proches, prouvant que les rêves peuvent devenir réalité avec de l’aide et du courage.

Tom Pata: From Rowing Coach to Successful Farmer
Tom Pata, who works at Hawe Farm, has turned his life around through hard work and determination. For 10 years, Tom was a rowing coach, even training Rio, Vanuatu's rowing superstar. Inspired by his father, Tom joined the seasonal worker program in Australia, aiming to improve his family's life.

With his earnings, Tom bought a pickup truck to help his father, who could no longer walk. He also built a two-bedroom house in Tebakor. Now, Tom plans to build a permanent home at Narpow Point on land he bought while working various jobs in Port Vila before going to Australia.

"Working in Australia has been a blessing," Tom says. "I'm grateful for the opportunities and excited about the future."

Tony B**g Willie Finds Opportunity and Hope Through Seasonal Work in Australia

Tony B**g Willie, a resident of Ambrym Island, has embarked on a transformative journey that has reshaped his life and prospects for the future. Having traveled to Australia for work during two separate seasons, Tony’s experiences highlight both the challenges and opportunities faced by seasonal workers.

In 2022, during the global COVID-19 lockdown, Tony and his seasonal worker friends was stuck in Australia. During this period, he worked on an apple farm and later transitioned to a bear farm. The pandemic brought about significant challenges, including reduced working hours. Despite these setbacks, Tony’s determination and resilience shone through.

"The challenge was during COVID-19, when my hours were cut," Tony recalls. Yet, his perseverance paid off. Through his hard work and dedication, upon his return Tony managed to build a good house for his family back on Ambrym Island.

In 2023, Tony returned to Australia for another season of work. Having recently returned to Vanuatu in 2024, he reflects on his journey with a sense of pride and accomplishment. Together with his wife, he is planning to undertake another season of work in Australia. Their goal is to start a business that will benefit their community and provide sustainable income for their family.

"Working as a seasonal worker was the best decision of my life and an opportunity to make something for myself," Tony shared.

However, Tony also highlighted areas for improvement within the seasonal worker program. "Working under a contractor is not really good because sometimes they take more than what was agreed on," he noted.

Tony’s journey from Ambrym Island to the fields of Australia and back is a story of resilience, hope, and the pursuit of a better future.

A Story of Hard Work and Generosity

Tanna Island, Tafea, Vanuatu – Marino Sakaria, a native of Tanna Island, has recently shared his inspiring journey as a seasonal worker in Australia. In 2023, Marino embarked on a life-changing adventure, working on a banana farm in Australia through the Ladona agency.

Despite the demanding and strenuous nature of farm work, Marino's resilience and determination have been remarkable. "The work is very strong and hard," Marino explained. "So I always make sure to maintain a balanced diet every day to keep my health in check."

Marino's efforts have not only been beneficial for him but also for his family. He proudly shared that he sends nearly 60 percent of his earnings back to his parents in appreciation for the hard work they put into raising him. "The money I earn, I give nearly 60 percent back to my parents for the job they did raising me," Marino stated with a smile.

With the remaining earnings, Marino has begun constructing a house. Though the house is not yet complete, Marino remains optimistic and driven. "I just signed a contract to travel again, so I'm planning to complete my house during this trip," he shared enthusiastically.

Reflecting on his experience, Marino expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to work and earn a decent income. "I'm happy that I have this opportunity to travel and earn this kind of money," he said. "I feel so fortunate to work on a farm that pays me well, even though the work is hard."

Meet Latu Nuaita, 26 years old single, she's from Futuna Island in the southern Province of Tafea. Living in mele village found interest in travelling under seasonal workers scheme so last year she started her journey under the scheme.
Her previous job here in vanuatu was sale person at Vodafone while working there she save up and decided to travel to Australia, she went to Tomato farm (Queensland) for 6 months contract .
She has a big goal to achieve, she want to buy a piece of land here in Port Vila and build her house on while going back and fort in Australia. Meanwhile time is not on her side she had limited time to do that so she will soon depart to Australia , but that's her goal and aim to able to buy a piece of land and build on it.
Again, she strongly encourages young single adult both boys and girls or who ever wants to travel some day that they should have a better mind set that could pushed them to travel, not to think down on them. As quoted "if every other people can do it , you can also do it."

Meeting up a (42) years old meddle age men, Regie-Metan his from Ambrym island malampa province. He got married with 5 kids and his kids whose also when to school.

In 2018 he travelled to New Zealand for 7 months under Agent Nigel, his main job is working in Kiwi they do picking and pruning in (Apata Farm). And again in 2022 he travelled a second time, this time he went to Australia for 9 months under agent Dane. Separately within 5 months he works in Fish factory(Tasal Farm) and them transfers to Tomato(Alet Farm) within the period of 4 months.

The motivation that influence to travelled is to help buying his kids School fees and building his house. The achievement that he recieved when come back, he buy 3000 litter tank and started the foundation of his house.

He also continues to encourage young girls and boys that recently who wants to travelled also, that they should stop the habit of addicted in alcohol, ci******es etc... and serve their money to do their pasport for travelling or being part of RSC in order to help assisting their family needs and wants. He might saying this because he experience what struggles he come a cross in life now a days.

After 6 months working in Australia, Anna Natuman was able to build her family home at her home village, Lonelaben, Lenakal, Tanna island, operate a shop, operates a kava bar business & road market, pay for her children's school fees & support her families financially.

Anna travelled to Australia in 2022( 6 months) & work at the Strawberry & Raspberry farm, through agent Tarisu, who works with OPW Australia.

She told seasonal work success stories, she quit her secretarial job at Lenakel school(Tanna island) & travel abroad.
“I think I made the right decision to work abroad, because it changes my live in every ways, Now my family wont struggle anymore,” she expressed.

The 29 year old mother two is encouraging Ni-Vans who are struggling & are unemployed to make use of this opportunity to travel abroad, she also knowledge both the Australian & Vanuatu government for this initiative, making people like her to dream big.
