🌏🎬 **Supporting stories of Pacific settlement**

NAOIA recently provided Media Fixer support in Vanuatu for a documentary exploring the history of settlement across the Pacific, directed by French filmmaker Raynald MÉRIENNE.

Our Media Fixers, Giraud Marc and Melissa Simon, supported the documentary team during their time in Vanuatu, helping with local coordination, access and connections as they worked with the Vanuatu Kaljoral Senta, Ni-Vanuatu archaeologists, historians and researchers.

The team visited significant archaeological sites including Teouma and Pangpang on Efate, exploring the evidence and stories that help us understand the people who settled the Pacific thousands of years ago.

We are pleased to have supported the Vanuatu Tourism Office (VTO) in the review and development of the Domestic Tourism Marketing Strategy 2027–2029.

The strategy provides a practical roadmap to grow domestic travel, support tourism businesses and encourage more people to explore and experience Vanuatu.

NAOIA supported the process through stakeholder consultations, research, strategy development, workshop facilitation, coordination and reporting.

A big thank you to the tourism industry, businesses, government and industry stakeholders, and everyone who shared their time, experiences and ideas throughout the consultation process. Your input helped shape the strategy and ensure it reflects the realities and opportunities of the sector.

The strategy was officially launched at the NBV Mi Tumoro Vanuatu Travel Expo, celebrating the important role domestic tourism plays in Vanuatu's tourism future.

At NAOIA, we support organisations with strategy development, research, consultations, project coordination, events, market development and communications.

We look forward to supporting more projects that turn ideas into practical action and impact.

We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of our dear friend Julie. It was a privilege to work alongside her, and her kindness and contribution will be deeply missed.

𝗜𝗻 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗲 𝗜𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗻

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that the Vanuatu Skills Partnership shares the passing of our dear colleague, Julie Ierongen, who passed away last night.

Julie joined the Vanuatu Skills Partnership in 2022 as the Skills for Tourism Officer and quickly became an invaluable member of our team. Throughout her time with us, she demonstrated unwavering dedication, professionalism, and passion for supporting the development of Vanuatu's tourism sector.

Under the Skills for Tourism workstream, Julie worked across all provinces of Vanuatu, building strong relationships with communities, industry partners, training providers, and government stakeholders. Her commitment to strengthening tourism skills and creating opportunities for Ni-Vanuatu contributed significantly to the growth and development of the tourism sector nationwide.

Julie was more than a respected colleague. She was a kind and caring person whose warmth, generosity, and positive spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of working alongside her. Her dedication to serving others and her belief in the potential of people and communities will remain a lasting part of her legacy.

Today, we honour Julie's contributions, celebrate her life, and give thanks for the impact she made through her work with the Vanuatu Skills Partnership and the many people she supported throughout the country.

Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Julie's family, friends, loved ones, and all those who are mourning her loss during this difficult time.

Julie's contribution to Vanuatu's tourism industry and to the people of Vanuatu will not be forgotten. She will be deeply missed by the Vanuatu Skills Partnership family.

NAOIA was pleased to have our team member, Lea Faccarello, attend Ecotourism Australia’s Global Sustainable Tourism Summit, representing the Adventure Travel Trade Association.

The Summit showcased the depth and diversity of sustainability initiatives across the Australian ecotourism sector and reinforced the growing importance of credible sustainability certification.

A key takeaway was that certification is only meaningful when backed by genuine action — demonstrating positive impact, responsible practices, community benefit, and long-term environmental stewardship.

The Global Sustainable Tourism Summit 2026 is a wrap, and what a two days it has been. Ecotourism Australia is so proud to have brought together sustainability changemakers, innovators and industry leaders from across Australia and beyond for two days of ideas, collaboration and real impact here on....

Our Digital Marketing Training with Yumi Growem Vanuatu Cohort 4 participants for V-Lab continued in Santo this week. 📍

Over two days, participants explored practical digital marketing strategies to strengthen their online presence and grow their businesses.

One of the highlights of the training was learning more about each participant's business journey and being able to support them as they continue building their digital presence.

A big shout-out to our team member Melissa, who travelled to Santo to facilitate the training and work alongside this inspiring group of entrepreneurs. 👏

The Vanuatu booth at 'Beauty world Japan Tokyo' received strong interest from visitors, buyers, and industry representatives eager to learn more about and its locally made products 🇻🇺🇯🇵✨

From perfumes and toners to wellness products, the exhibition created valuable opportunities to introduce Vanuatu-made products to new international audiences and strengthen potential future partnerships within the Japanese market 🤝

It was also an honour to see Ambassador Okuda visit the booth and show his support to the Team members attending the exhibition. NAOIA was proud to have our team member supporting this important opportunity to showcase local businesses and products on an international stage 🌏

Week 2 of our Digital Skills & Social Media Training with small local business owners in Port Vila has been a valuable continuation of building digital confidence and business growth opportunities within our local community. 🌱💻

2 days of training this week focused on key areas of social media marketing and digital content creation, with practical skills that participants can directly apply to their businesses.

Topics covered included:

📱 Understanding the role and importance of social media marketing for small businesses
🎯 Choosing the right platforms to support different business goals
👤 Understanding the difference between personal and business pages
📈 Growing online audiences through hashtags, page insights, and LinkedIn

Business owners also had the opportunity to strengthen their online presence by setting up professional business pages and developing simple strategies to help maintain and grow their digital visibility moving forward. 🚀

We would like to thank V-Lab for continuing to organize and support this training initiative, helping empower local entrepreneurs and small business owners with the digital skills needed to grow and adapt in today’s evolving digital landscape. 🤝
