Today is R U OK? Day 💛

Writing and running an author business can be incredibly isolating.

So much of it happens behind closed doors in your office. Just you, your laptop and a never-ending list of things that feel like only you can do.

Writing the book. Marketing it. Showing up online. Launching. Answering emails. Watching sales. Planning what comes next.

It can be a lot to carry, especially when everyone else only sees the finished book.

So today, check in on your author friends or your reader friends. Send the message. Ask how they’re actually doing.

And check in with yourself too.

Your mental health will always be more important than your next deadline, release or sales goal. 💛

While I don't struggle with my mental health daily, I have had periods where the day to day grind of life or life circumstances have been a bit too much and I have needed support from my loved ones. It's ok to lean on others when you need it.

There’s a big difference between having someone who helps you complete tasks and having someone who helps you run and grow the business behind your books.

Both roles are valuable, but they solve very different problems.

An Author PA can be incredible when you know what needs to be done and you need someone reliable to help execute it.

An Author Business Manager steps in when you need someone looking at the bigger picture, your launches, marketing, systems, team, opportunities and what actually needs to happen next to move the business forward.

As your author career grows, there often comes a point where you don’t just need more hands.

You need someone who can think about the business with you. Your right hand!

And knowing which one you actually need can save you a lot of time, money and frustration.

Social media doesn't need to become another full-time job in your author business.
