If you're like me...
Then you'll probably agree that our main priorities in life are to take care of ourselves and to provide for our families.
For me, this woman is my family.
This is my mother, Lorie.
I'm currently a 20 year old college student who had dreams of graduating from college, earning a degree, and working as an occupational therapist to provide the best life possible not just for myself,
But for my mother as well.
Unfortunately, times got tougher for us.
-Bills became harder to pay.
-I barely had enough income to support myself.
-My mother had to start working 6-7 days a week just to put food on the table.
I was just a college student who hasn't even come close to graduating yet.
I wasn't independent and I felt helpless.
I couldn't do anything to make my life better or my mother's life easier except to go to class everyday for another couple years until I graduate.
For me, I couldn't accept that.
I knew that I had to find a way to create the best life possible for myself and for my mother.
So I made a decision.
You see,
I believe young adults are fully capable of creating a life filled with freedom, fun, and happiness for themselves and their families.
I also believe there are multiple ways young adults can create a financial independence to provide a life filled with freedom, fun and happiness for themselves and their families aside from going to college.
So after going through 3 out of 7 years of college,
I decided that I couldn't afford to waste time and go through four more years of college before I became independent and capable of taking care of my mother.
Now I'm not saying that college is a complete waste of time and money and that people shouldn't bother going to college,
but for me, time was of the essence. I needed to find a way to create more independence for myself so that I could provide the best life possible for my family.
And I felt that I needed to do this as soon as possible, while I'm young and just entering the prime years of my life.
So I decided to learn the skillset of digital marketing.
I want to create a life for myself where:
-Money is never an issue.
-I can work on my own time and not someone else's.
-I can support my mother and repay her for everything she’s done for me.
-I can take care of myself and everything I need without having to rely on someone else.
-I'm free to do the things that make me happy.
For me, my mother is the biggest reason that I push myself as hard as I can to learn this new skill.
I want create a life that both my mother and I can enjoy and be proud of for years to come.
What about you,
What keeps you moving forward to keep learning and building?
What's the driving force that keeps you focused on achieving your goals?
Bye for now,
