Glad to get this piece out before Elden Ring dropped as I'm sure much of my free time will be taken by it once it does😅

Pokemon had a huge influence on my childhood and single-handedly shaped both my love of video games and pixel art. Pokemon Ruby was my first game, and I always found the sprite work of the gen 3/4 games to be so clean and visually appealing. However one thing that always felt off was the empty feeling pokemon centers gave off. You'd walk in to a brand new town and head to the center to heal only to see a couple of senile old dudes. I wanted to create my own pokemon center scene that felt more filled with life. Where things are moving and where people and pokemon alike use the center as a community building for trainers.

This is certainly the largest project I've taken on yet, both in terms of actual size, as well as time spent, but I can proudly say I've never been more happy of piece of mine before. It's also really nice when you can use friends for inspiration and sometimes even put them in the actual piece itself. ft. a very close friend as a witch in the woods, her chonky cat, and a little bird friend. The last few month have been a hell of a journey but It's only up from here, I'm excited to see where things go from here!
P.S. (sorry for the repost,Facebook wouldn't let me edit the post to contain a signature)

Just a small update on the current project. About 40-50% done I would say. The last big part is the building and then the rest is just filling out the details. Having a ton of fun with this but I defintely think I’m going to do something a little more restrictive in the color pallete for my next piece. The more and more I do these pieces the more and more I find I’m learning. As someone who has never been good at traditional drawing, it’s both fun and refreshing to be able to make pieces that I’m not only proud of, but am willing to show off to others.

Sometimes you decide right after starting a project that you're not really feeling it. That's ok. Always better to put it away for a rainy day and come back to it when you feel you can put your heart into it.
