I’m Black first and a Multi-Disciplinary Creative immediately after🧑🏽‍🎨👩🏽‍💻
Happy Black History Month y’all ❤️🖤💚!
I wanted this piece to reflect our community in every sense, honoring the past, celebrating the present, and imagining the future within the walls of the Lewis. From Maryland’s historical figures to today’s Black leaders, innovators, artists, and change-makers, it stands as a visual love letter to our legacy and our now.
It’s especially meaningful to me as a designer to create in a space where Black history lives every day, where our stories aren’t just remembered, but honored, preserved, and shared forward through creativity.
I may not always be the loudest with my voice, but my art is loud, bold, and intentional. Through this work, I’m reminded that I’m not only designing around Black history, I’m actively contributing to it and becoming a part of it myself.
Black history isn’t frozen in time. It’s living, breathing, and still being made. And we’re all a part of it. ✨✊🏾
