We are happy to inform about our ninth speaker Prasad Enjeti
(Texas A&M, University College Station, USA) for IEEE PEDES 2022 going to held on 14-17 DEC 2022 at MNIT Jaipur.

Dr. Prasad Enjeti’s primary research interests are: Advance power electronic converters for utility interface of solar-pv/wind/fuel-cell/battery-energy storage power systems; design of high temperature power conversion systems with wide band-gap semiconductor devices; new converter topologies for single/three phase solid state transformers (SSTs) with medium frequency isolation; medium voltage power converters for mega-watt scale solar-pv/wind/fuel-cell energy systems, adjustable speed drives with medium frequency transformer isolation; development of smart solar pv-systems for curved surfaces / BIPVs; power quality enhancement for interconnected renewables; power quality issues: design & development of active power filters; dynamic voltage restorer’s (DVRs) and new & improved ride-through technologies employing flywheel and supercapacitors; advancing switching power supply designs for portable power systems and modular fuel-cell systems. He is a Fellow of IEEE (year 2000) for "Contributions to solutions of utility interface problems in power electronic systems and harmonic mitigation”. He is the inaugural recipient of the R. David Middlebrook Technical Achievement Award from the IEEE Power Electronics Society, 2012. In addition to his regular graduate and undergraduate teaching load, he along with his students and colleagues has taught 25 different technical short courses, has published well over 100 conference papers, 86 journal papers, and seven book chapters. His research emphasis on industry-based issues has attracted significant funding. So far, 26 PhD and 41 MS students have graduated under his supervision and have spring-boarded into key leadership positions. He is the lead developer of the Power Electronics / Power Quality & Fuel Cell Power Conditioning Laboratories at Texas A&M; University and is actively involved in many projects with industries while engaged in teaching, research and consulting in the area of power electronics.

We are happy to inform about our eighth speaker Prof. Hamid A. Toliyat (A&M; University, TX, USA) for IEEE PEDES 2022 going to held on 14-17 DEC 2022 at MNIT Jaipur.

Prof. Toliyat received the B.S, degree from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran in 1982, the M.S. degree from West Virginia University, Morgantown, WV in 1986, and the Ph.D. degree from University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison, WI in 1991, all in electrical engineering. Following receipt of the Ph.D. degree, he joined the faculty of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Mashhad, Iran as an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering. In March 1994 he joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Texas A&M University where he is currently Raytheon endowed professor of electrical engineering. Dr. Toliyat has received the prestigious Nikola Tesla Field Award for “outstanding contributions to the design, analysis and control of fault-tolerant multiphase electric machines” from IEEE in 2014, the Cyril Veinott Award in Electromechanical Energy Conversion from the IEEE Power Engineering Society in 2004, Patent and Innovation Award from Texas A&M University System Office of Technology Commercialization’s in 2022, 2020, 2018, 2016 and 2007, TEES Faculty Fellow Award in 2006, Distinguished Teaching Award in 2003, E.D. Brockett Professorship Award in 2002, Eugene Webb Faculty Fellow Award in 2000, and Texas A&M Select Young Investigator Award in 1999. He has also received the Space Act Award from NASA in 1999, and the Schlumberger Foundation Technical Awards in 2001 and 2000. Prof. Toliyat work is highly cited by his colleagues more than 27500 times and has an H-index of 81. Dr. Toliyat was an Editor of IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion. He was Chair of the IEEE-IAS Industrial Power Conversion Systems Department of IEEE-IAS, and is a member of Sigma Xi. He is a fellow of the IEEE, the recipient of the 2008 Industrial Electronics Society Electric Machines Committee Second Best Paper Award as well as the recipient of the IEEE Power Engineering Society Prize Paper Awards in 1996 and 2006, and IEEE Industry Applications Society Transactions Third Prize Paper Award and Second Prize Paper Award in 2006 and 2016, respectively. His main research interests and experience include analysis and design of electrical machines, variable speed drives for traction and propulsion applications, fault diagnosis of electric machinery, and magnetic gear integrated electric machines. Prof. Toliyat has supervised more than 120 graduate students, post docs, and research engineers. He has published over 530 technical papers, presented more than 99 invited lectures all over the world, and has 41 issued and pending US patents. He is the author of 11 books and book chapters including DSP-Based Electromechanical Motion Control, CRC Press, 2003, the co-editor of Handbook of Electric Motors - 2nd Edition, Marcel Dekker, 2004, and the co-author of Electric Machines – Modeling, Condition Monitoring, and Fault Diagnosis, CRC Press, Florida, 2013. He was the General Chair of the 2005 IEEE International Electric Machines and Drives Conference in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Toliyat is a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.

We are happy to inform about our seventh speaker Dr. Praveen Jain
(Queen’s University Kingston, Canada) for IEEE PEDES 2022 going to held on 14-17 DEC 2022 at MNIT Jaipur.

Dr. Praveen Jain is Canada Research Chair in Power Electronics and Director of the Queen's University Centre for Energy and Power Electronics Research (ePOWER). Dr. Jain holds a PhD from the University of Toronto. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC) and the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE). He is the recipient of the 2011 William E. Newell Award in Power Electronics from IEEE, of the Engineering Medal (R&D;) from the Professional Engineers of Ontario and of the Queen's Prize for Research Excellence. His research contributions have resulted in over 550 publications and 114 patents (issued and pending). He has received over $33M in external research funding. Dr. Jain has demonstrated experience in successfully transferring technology from university to industry and concept to product. His industrial experience has included work as a power electronics engineer for Canadian Aeronautics where he contributed to the design and development of high frequency power conversion equipment for the International Space Station, as an advisor for Nortel Networks, and as a consultant with Astec Advanced Power Systems, providing guidance for the research and development of advanced power technologies for telecommunications. He has also consulted with many organizations including Ballard Power, General Electric and Intel. In addition, he established two new companies, CHiL Semiconductor and SPARQ Systems, from research innovation at Queen’s University.

We are happy to inform about our sixth speaker Prof. Subhashish Bhattacharya ( NCSU Raleigh, USA ) for IEEE PEDES 2022 going to held on 14-17 DEC 2022 at MNIT Jaipur.

Subhashish Bhattacharya received his B.E. degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, in 1986; his M.E. degree from the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, in 1988; and his Ph.D. degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2003, all in electrical engineering. He was with the Flexible AC Transmission Systems and Power Quality Division, Westinghouse/Siemens Power Transmission and Distribution from 1998 to 2005. In August 2005, he joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, North Carolina State University, Raleigh, where he is currently the Duke Energy Distinguished Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a founding faculty member of the National Science Foundation’s FREEDM Systems Center and the U.S. Department of Energy Power America Institute. A portion of his Ph.D. research on active power filters was commercialized by York Corporation for air conditioner chillers. His research interests include solid-state transformers, medium-voltage power converters, FACTS, utility applications, high-frequency magnetics, and power-conversion applications of silicon-carbide devices. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE.

We are happy to inform about our fifth speaker Prof. Mariusz Malinowski ( IEEE IES President ) for IEEE PEDES 2022 going to held on 14-17 DEC 2022 at MNIT Jaipur.
Prof. Mariusz Malinowski was elected IEEE IES President-Elect for 2020–2021 during the latest meeting of the IEEE IES Board in Lisbon on October 18, 2019 and is set to serve his term as IEEE IES President in 2022–2023. Prof. Malinowski was Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Magazine (winner of the prestigious Award of Excellence conferred by the Society for Technical Communications) and Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics and the IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics. He was involved in hosting over 20 IEEE international conferences. Currently, he chairs the IEEE Poland Section and serves as Vice President for Publications at the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society. He holds the IEEE Fellow status, the highest membership grade conferred in recognition of the person’s extraordinary records of accomplishments in technology or organization. The trail of awards and distinctions marking Prof. Mariusz Malinowski’s career path include: the Siemens Prize for his doctoral thesis (2002); the Siemens Research Prize (2007); the Prime Minister of Poland Award for Habilitation (2013); and the Prime Minister of Poland 1st Team Prize for the scientific and technical achievement (2017). He has also received the following international research awards: IEEE IES David Irwin Early Career Award for “Outstanding research and development of modulation and control for industrial electronics converters” (Melbourne, Australia, 2011) and IEEE IES David Bimal Bose Award for Industrial Electronics Applications in Energy Systems for “Contributions in control of industrial electronics converters applications in energy systems” (Yokohama, Japan, 2015). Prof. Mariusz Malinowski has been part of many award-winning implementations which have been recognized with, e.g., three times the honorary mention in the competition Polish Product of the Future sponsored by the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP); the Gold Medal for the 35th International Exhibition of Innovations in Geneva, the Bronze Medal for the 56th Brussels-Innova, an international exhibition of inventions, research and new technologies; and the Polish Minister of Economy Special Prize “eCO2 Innovation” for the development of an innovative eco-friendly product. Prof. Mariusz Malinowski and his team were also handed the Warsaw University of Technology Scientific Award for outstanding achievements in successful scientific and technology transfer to business (2015). During his career, he has been a visiting scholar and professor at the following institutions: Aalborg University (Denmark), University of Nevada (Reno, USA); Technical University of Berlin (Germany); Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Marıa (Valparaıso, Chile); University of Cergy-Pontoise (France); ENSEEIHT – Laplace, Toulouse (France); and ETH Zurich (Switzerland). Two other Poland’s nationals are on record as having been elected presidents of their respective societies; these are Prof. Józef Modelski of the Warsaw University of Technology in the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (2008) and Prof. Maciej Ogorzałek of the Jagiellonian University of Kraków (2008) in the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society.

Greetings from PEDES 2022!!

We are happy to inform about our fourth speaker Dr. Brij N. Singh for IEEE PEDES 2022 going to held on 14-17 DEC 2022 at MNIT Jaipur.

Dr. Brij N. Singh has earned BE from Madan Mohan Malviya Technical University, Gorakhpur, ME from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, and Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, India, all in Electrical Engineering. In 1996, Dr. Singh joined the École de Technology Supérieure, Montreal, Canada, as a Post-Doctoral Fellow. In 1999, he joined Concordia University, Montreal as a Research Fellow. In 2000, he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana, as an Assistant Professor. In 2007, Dr. Singh has joined John Deere as a Staff Engineer to lead and support silicon IGBT inverter development projects for the JD 644K and JD 944K Hybrid Loaders. In 2011, he joined Advanced Technology as a Senior Staff Engineer to lead John Deere’s WBG power electronics projects. In 2020, Dr. Singh was named as the Region 4 Manager External Relationships with responsibilities to develop emerging technologies to support technology needs for the John Deere Tech Stack, Production Systems, Product Lifecycle Systems, Construction & Road Building. Dr. Singh has published over 90 research articles including papers in the IEEE Transactions and IET Journals. He has 28 approved US patents, one trade secret, and over a dozen pending patents. In Tulane, Dr. Singh received four IEEE-Eta-Kappa-Nu teaching awards for outstanding instructions in electrical engineering. In John Deere, he has received three innovation and one collaboration awards for product and technology development projects. Dr. Singh is the winner of the 2020 IEEE Power Electronics Emerging Technology Award for “In-Vehicle Demonstration of Engine-Cooled Power-Dense Scalable SiC Inverter”. In 2020, Dr. Singh was awarded the “Title of John Deere Fellow” for exemplary knowledge leadership and significant contributions to the power electronics engineering. He is an IEEE Fellow and life member of IEEE Industrial Electronics and Power Electronics Societies and lives with his family in West Fargo, ND, USA.
