Other Printers Dare Not Mention The True Cost Of Executing A Job!
I've been in the Print Media industry for 9 years and 6 months now and I've studied and explored a lot about it to the point of creating and teaching a short course on getting into Print Brokerage In Nigeria.
And that's because I know a bit about each of the different categories of players in the printing industry on an experiential level and not just based on observations, assumptions, and theories.
I've tested the waters and gained experience as a Printing Press owner, a Print Broker, a Graphic Designer, a Consumables & Equipment Supplier, a Machine Operator, and even a Finisher.
I started out at the printing hub in Diobu, Port Harcourt for about 6 years and then moved to the biggest printing hub in Nigeria at Somolu, Lagos where I've been in the past 3 years and 6 months.
I even built the Printfiam website for taking print orders back in 2020 while I was still in Port Harcourt, and although it didn't fly the way I imagined it will, it's still active with prospects.
The number of unique clients Quickprints has served over the years is probably over a thousand and the revenue we've generated is perhaps over N50million which is just a fraction of our potential.
Now why am I sharing all these pedigrees?
When we moved to Lagos, we decided to focus on Print Brokerage because that's the aspect of printing that gives us the biggest advantage and allows us to extend that advantage to our clients.
What is Print Brokerage?
Print Brokerage is primarily about marketing and ex*****on. A broker typically doesn't have a physical office at the hub, print equipment and operators, and all the overhead costs that comes with it.
But because a broker understands the workings of the industry and printing hubs better than clients, they make their money by going out to find clients and bring their jobs to process them at the hub.
Now that's something most printing press owners scarcely have the time to do and the brokers have a lot of time to do. And besides, the printing hubs are structured to serve brokers more than direct clients.
What is the advantage you extend to clients?
The advantage we extend to our clients is being transparent about the true cost of executing a job and the cost of risk which is also the profit margin we're making from executing the job.
Other printers and brokers dare not mention the true cost of executing a job so they can bill you "x" amount, even though it actually costs less than 10% of "x" to execute the job - over 900% profit margin!
But at Quickprints, we'll tell you it cost "y" amount for the same job, and we're going to bill you at least 100% of "y" as cost of risk to execute the job, but if there's no risk, that 100%+ becomes our payment.
We've been experimenting with this model for about a couple of years now especially for jobs above N100k and it emphasizes the value we're bringing to our clients and converts them to our partners.
We're Print Brokers. We can be at Idumota shopping for souvenirs in the morning and then back to Somolu printing at noon and off to Jibowu to ship the finished goods to any part of Nigeria by evening.
No part of Lagos is too far to send a dispatch rider or an Uber with your job regardless of the volume. And if we need to deliver in person, you can count on my colleagues and I at Quickprints to deliver.
We are more than your print plug, we are partners.
