Comayagua was the capital of Honduras from 1537-1880. Beautiful colonial buildings have been preserved here. Among them is the Cathedral of Comayagua, which has a clock - one of the oldest in the world, the oldest beautiful church in the city, La Merced. There are also the ruins of the convent of San Francisco and the residence of the bishop. The city has four museums.
