The weather has been giving us some beautiful days but also some hot ones and as you know, it's only going to get hotter. which in turn makes everything hotter, as in vehicles! You know on a hot day, you open the doors and the heat from hell rolls out? Imagine sitting in it for even 30 seconds…
We lock our cars to keep dishonest people out. What about the innocent?
Parents, grandparents, babysitters, neighbors, be proactive. LOCK YOUR VEHICLES!
I lost my Dawson on 08/10/21, two days before his third birthday. He had gotten into my UNLOCKED vehicle in 109 degree heat index.. and it took his life. We were napping, I closed my eyes with both my babies sleeping next to me and woke up in a panic to only one baby in bed. When I went to bed, my front door was locked and the dead bolt was locked as well.
I found my son in my vehicle, what looked like he was sleeping. I swooped him up and ran him inside, with the thought of cooling him down asap. First thing, I checked for a pulse. Then I felt wet down my side and I knew that wasn't good. I ran him into my bedroom where my phone was on the charger to call 911. I had laid him on the rug and he had thrown up on me, another bad sign. I immediately start CPR on
my baby. My husband arrived home in the middle of a nightmare. And then, for what felt like a life time, help arrived.
I'm not telling you guys this to gain sympathy. I'm telling you this because I cannot expect others to grasp the depth of the importance of locking your vehicle. IT CAN POTENTIALLY SAVE A LIFE.
Yesterday 05/30/22, I was dropping my sister off at her house and she had called telling me I had
forgotten some things. As I was going around the block, I saw a little girl in a vehicle. With a familiar panic, I whipped my truck around. I got her out and started assessing her. She was responsive but showed some heat exhaustion and went into her fathers care. I attempted to inform him and was brushed off.
I felt it was time to tell my story because there could have very easily been another one similar happen yesterday.
I'm not telling you to have two eyes on your child at all times, but I am begging you to take every
precaution you can if you don't. Kids are curious.. had my door double locked but I did NOT have my vehicle locked.
I do not want the worst day of my life to happen to anyone else, or the death of a child on your hands.
PLEASE LOCK YOUR VEHICLES!
