Beautiful and well thought out, they are a joy to use, day for day. Alexandra Maiwald— or Sascha, as she is called—has been a graphic designer all her adult life, having learned the trade the old-fashioned way, before everything was done with computers. She worked in advertising and web design, as an art director for many years and later as a freelancer, after a period of re-inventing her life whi
ch included a windy year and a half on a remote Scottish island (which she still misses sometimes). She was forced to re-invent herself again when chronic illness began to take over her life. Battling fatigue and subsequent depression, she finally realised that she needed help—and that the most important person who could help her was herself. She began journalling, and learning about journalling and how to use it to improve mental health, happiness and productivity. She developed first one template with journal prompts, then another, constantly adding and improving until she was convinced that other people could benefit from her work as well, and she developed the brand Files from Elsewhere. After having spent most of her life in her home town Cologne, Alexandra now lives in Hamburg with her wonderful husband.
