The wolf, common or gray, belongs to carnivorous mammals of the canidae family. Among the animals of this family, the wolf is the largest: the body is about 160 cm long, the tail reaches 52 cm, the height is about 90 cm, the body weight is 80 kg. There are 32 subspecies of wolves by their size and fur color. Previously, wolves were widespread in Eurasia and North America. But now their habitat is constantly shrinking as a result of human activities, among which are changes in natural landscapes, urbanization and mass extermination. Nevertheless, the wolf remains a key predator for the balance of the ecosystem of temperate forests, taiga, tundra, steppe and mountain systems.
