Hey, shop owners. I need to talk about personality.
The most beautiful shop front in my town no longer exists; the shop has a new tenant, and the front is the most basic, boring, grey design.
I was heartbroken when I saw it.
Grey is very much in vogue right now - every new shop front in town is grey, and every single one of them is lacking in personality.
The trouble is, when you're focusing on looking clean and professional and stylish, personality is likely to come last. Quite often, it's eschewed completely because new business owners think it'll make them look unprofessional.
It's difficult to survive on the high street. That's an uncomfortable fact, but it isn't one that should dissuade anybody. I have another business and my dream is to have my own little shop one day, but I know that I've got to offer something special to make it work.
For the majority of your customers, your shop front is your first impression. It may be your only impression. If you look like everyone else, or if it evokes a dull and robotic brand, do you expect passers by to stop and look at you?
Shop owners: stop getting lost in your own head and focusing on a polished appearance, and start thinking about how to really make use of that shop front space!
And hey - grey might be part of your brand. Grey can still be popping with personality! Check out these beautiful shop front designs and get inspired.
