Take a peek around The Works Café in Latham 👀🥯

Located in Newton Plaza, The Works Café offers a wide selection of fresh-baked bagels, breakfast sandwiches, artisan melts, salads, smoothies, and coffee ☕️

Known for its traditional New York-style bagels, the menu also features breakfast burritos, specialty sandwiches, and organic quinoa bowls. A popular spot for local students and shoppers, the Latham café is one of two Capital Region locations, with another in Guilderland 🗺️

This Saturday, The Works Café will be serving its signature mac-and-cheese at the 16th Annual Mac-N-Cheese Bowl in Cohoes, joining restaurants from across the 518 to support Regional Food Bank 🥣

A fresh chapter for the former Saint Rose campus 🥬

The can find the new Pine Hills Farmers Market every Thursday in the Saint Rose Courtyard, featuring approximately 30 local vendors offering farm-fresh produce, baked goods, specialty foods, and handmade products. Visitors can also enjoy food trucks, live entertainment, and family-friendly activities 🥕

Organized by the same folks behind the Washington Park Farmers Market, the new market is part of a broader effort by Albany County and the Albany County Pine Hills Land Authority to revitalize the campus following its closure in 2024 🙌

The goal? Transform the once-bustling campus into a vibrant community gathering place while supporting local farmers, small businesses, and the surrounding Pine Hills neighborhood. Plus, there are more things in store for this campus coming soon 🏡 👀

One night, four stops, and a $40 souvenir from the City of Albany 🍸🎟️

We kicked things off with drinks at Olde English Pub, returned to find a lovely parking ticket before making our way to dp An American Brasserie for cocktails and dinner 🍽️

Next up, Pete Davidson live at Palace Theatre 🎤 it was a great show, but no phones were allowed inside, so you’ll just have to take our word for it. We wrapped up the night the only way that felt right, with one last round at McGeary’s Irish Pub 🍻

History comes alive in Saratoga this weekend 🇺🇸

Travel back to 1777 and experience the sights, sounds, and stories of the American Revolution as saratoga250 hosts its Siege Living History Weekend, October 10–11, at historic Fort Hardy Park in Schuylerville. Taking place on the very grounds where British General John Burgoyne’s army surrendered nearly 249 years ago, this two-day event brings one of the most pivotal moments in American history to life 💣

Experience booming cannons, musket demonstrations, Revolutionary War encampments, military drills, 18th-century music, blacksmithing, and hands-on historical activities. Visitors can also enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides, local food trucks, and interactive exhibits exploring everyday life during the Revolution. The event is free and family-friendly, running Saturday from 10 AM–4 PM and Sunday from 10 AM–2 PM 🗓️

After nearly 300 years on Hudson Avenue, Albany’s oldest building has a future again 🏠

Built in 1728, the Van Ostrande-Radliff House at 48 Hudson predates the American Revolution and stands as one of the few surviving examples of early Dutch urban architecture in America. After 13 years of planning, fundraising and restoration, the work is complete and the building is beginning its next chapter as the new home of Historic Albany Foundation.

Getting here took a community. Historic Albany Foundation led an effort that brought together support from New York State, federal preservation programs, local leaders, private partners and more than 60 individual donors. Support from Governor Kathy Hochul’s administration and state agencies helped fund major phases of the restoration, alongside years of advocacy and support from Albany’s local leadership and preservation community.

It’s the kind of project that only happens when people decide a piece of their city is worth fighting for.

For nearly three centuries, 48 Hudson has watched Albany change around it. Today, instead of becoming another piece of the city remembered only through old photographs, it gets to remain part of what comes next.

The story of 48 Hudson continues.

And Albany’s oldest building is here to stay.

This building has been standing in Albany since 1728 🤯

The restoration of 48 Hudson Avenue is officially complete, preserving a building that has stood in downtown Albany for nearly 300 years 🏡

Dating back to 1728, 48 Hudson is widely recognized as the oldest surviving building in the city and one of the oldest structures in the region. After centuries of change around it, the historic building has now undergone a major restoration aimed at preserving its original character while ensuring it can continue standing for generations to come👏

It’s a rare surviving piece of Albany’s earliest history, restored nearly three centuries after it was built.
