The ability of the local art communities to draw sound perspectives on their roles in the local development and move to active participation in social transformation, cultural empowerment deserves to be accommodated through creative platforms outside academic spaces. They do not have much avenues where there could have exchanged their intellectual and social discourses on the emerging issues of the local politics, culture, and environments. These avenues could be made possible through artistic expressions, forum, and art training and workshops.
The art works and expression revolve around the coastal theme, featuring the stories of coastal communities that may extend its discourse to coastal preservations and beautification, making them as the focal point of the local tourism. It is also a high time to give due importance on the cultural and historical significance of these local coasts of Barangays Aplaya and Dawis in mapping the local development of Digos City.
MIGLAYAG, Kasaulugan sa Tubig holds its them LAWIG DIGOS sets the venue of the events by the beach engaging local entrepreneurs as collaborators of the project, advancing the cause of effective integration of the arts and cultural education in the economic enterprises, involving coastal communities for initiating coastal preservations, and making the coastal areas as a budding sites for the local tourism.
