“Where are you!?!?!”

Was a question I got A LOT in the DMs over the past couple of months that I have been inactive.

And the simple answer is that I have been struggling with balancing school work with “work work”. Running a business is so demanding, I just could not balance it with Writing my final exams, preparing for my final exams, and writing my final year project! It’s been so chaotic and in the middle of all of this chaos, the very last thing on my mind has been content creation.

So while I was still working with clients, (bless all of their souls) I have been so B-U-S-Y trying to graduate with good grades, I couldn’t create any content. I finally wrote my final papers over the last weekend and boy oh boy, does it feel good to be back!

Now, While I actively stopped creating contents, I still kept tabs on ALL of the content ideas I had while I was away so that I won’t experience shortage by the time I get back. So I’m diving right in asap!

Ngl, I feel really humbled by the fact that people actually noticed my absence and decided to check up on me, I don’t take it for granted. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Let’s do amazing things together ❤️

Last week I was onboarding a client and over the course of the 1 hour game plan call, she kept coming up with ideas of free offers she could create to throw at her email list in an attempt to “convince them” or “let them experience“ what it is like to work with her.
At first, I kept trying to gently change the direction of the whole “free stuff frenzy“ thing and continue the strategy mapping but at some point, I just had to adress it.
So I told her, “M, giving away all of your offer for free WILL NOT help you make sales from your email list.” In fact, it’ll do quite the opposite, it’ll ensure you never make a penny from the list because your audience are used to getting everything for free.
Another negative impact that this will have is that subconsciously, your audience begin to see your offerings as “not valuable“ and the reason is simple enough; nobody gives immensely valuable Information away for free all the time. This translates to “if it was so valuable, why does no one want it?”
A third negative impact is that it hurts your credibility, reputation AND your authority as a business person. You’re basically throwing your offer (worth hundreds and thousands of dollars) at people who can’t afford you, people who might never get around to buying from you, people who don’t care about your business and what it offers and this is a BIG problem!
Is this to say you should NEVER give away free stuff to your audience?
ABSOLUTELY NOT!
You should in fact give away free things. They’re a good way of building engagement, brand loyalty, interest in new offers, inclusivity, relationships, and other healthy practices.
HOWEVER, If your whole strategy revolves around giving free stuff and if that’s the only way you know to market your offers, there’s a problem. And it’s a problem that will cost you more than money, it’ll cost you your reputation, cost you your credibility, authority and all of your efforts to use emails as a money making channel.
in subsequent posts, I’ll talk about how to give away free stuffs in a way that makes you money.

The 5-figure email plan is an offer that allows me to work on the email side of your business to (set you on the path to your first 10k email month from emails) take your email revenue from whatever it is right now to the 5 figure mark over the next 90 days.

Why 90 days?

Although I have a general road map of how this will ideally go, I do not believe in making use of one size fits all templates.

So I’ll be taking the time to actually test variables to understand what works for your audience so that I can double down on that one thing.

This plus the fact that email marketing is NOT usually an overnight success😉😉

Who is this offer ideal for?

The roadmap of this service is efficient for coaches, consultants and service providers (definitely not product based businesses)

What does it include?

- A fully automated system that helps you make sales and nurture your list on autopilot
- A tailored strategy that actually works
- Complete strategy implementation
- Full email copywriting
- Analytics

If this sounds like a service you need for your business, comment or dm me “PLAN” and I’ll send you the full details.

Testing variables in your email marketing strategy is perhaps the most rewarding thing that you’ll ever do for yourself.

Think about it like stumbling about in the dark and then someone suddenly came with some bright light to help you get where you’re going… A/B testing (split testing) will do that for you.

It’ll be the guide that’ll stop you from doing so much trial and errors and actually help you reach your goals faster.

Now, I’m curious, do you test your emails and if yes; what variables have you tested before?

I have gained quite a number of followers since I did the last introduction so I decided to redo it…

“Hi, my name is odunayo, and I'm an email strategist for Coaches, consultants and service providers.”

That is what I say every time I post a video. But there's a lot more to me than those 16 words. So here I come with the randomest facts that I think make me ME…

- I'm a Nigerian living in Nigeria running my business as a final year college student.

- I'm a christian and I believe in things like “the leading of the spirit” because that is honestly my reality.

- I enjoy writing poems and eating good food although I do not like to cook.

- I started writing copies in an attempt to while away time and I never really thought of it as something I'd ever do full time.

- I love animals but i cannot get a pet because i'm terrified that i'd one day forget to feed them and they’d starve to death

- I used to write sales pages and web copies before I transitioned into email copywriting and then email marketing.

- I am very very terrible at designing (which is crazy because i do have to create carousels and design email templates for clients)

- I originally started learning copywriting from ‘s youtube channel and i think i have seen every single video on her chanel and i have NOTESSSSS

- Finally, (although i wish i did), I do not have the supernatural ability of focusing on more than one thing at once and i can't learn any other skill that is not related to copywriting (or at least compliment it) because i mentally need to have as few options as humanly possible

Okay, I think that's enough for one post. Welcome home, I hope you stick around and share many, many memories with me.

Love,
-Odun

Sending the same emails to your whole list is basically shoving your content down everybody’s throat and not caring about
1. Their personal preference
2. Their actual needs (they might not actually need what you’re offering
3. The level they’re at in the customer journey…

1. As human beings, we are VERY different and the kind of content that appeals to Mr. A might not appeal to Miss B. This means if you’re sending emails that Miss B likes to Mr A, Mr A will end up tuning out and eventually stop engaging. And in this world of short attention spans, Mr A will very likely unsubscribe. He’s already getting too many emails, don’t let your email be just another random email in his inbox.

2. Let’s say you run a web design company, and you have both people that have paid you to design a website and people that are still considering hiring you on the same list.

Imagine sending out emails asking people to hire you to EVERYBODY on that list. A lot of people would be ROYALLY PI**ED! So while Mr A might be in need of a whole website and might actually work with you, Miss B already has a website and just needs a renewal and some little updates on her website.

Sending the same emails to both of them won’t be the right thing.

3. There are different levels to a customer journey. Someone who is in the beginning stage will not be engaging if you send them emails that are targeted towards people who are in the decision making stage.

At the very least, try to segment your list to get maximum returns and minimum unsubscribes.

Bonus point- it is possible that your audience just cannot afford it, are not in need of that particular product at that particular time or are not ready YET.

Sometimes, it’s not you, it’s them and that’s absolutely okay too.

Even e-commerce brands NEED to be strategic but coaches, consultants and service providers even more because most times, you’re not selling a couple of bucks worth of products.

Email strategy IS NOT negotiable in any industry. And like any other industry, the strategy will likely need to be reviewed and rebuilt after every couple of months and this is perfectly okay.

Now as a service provider, your email strategy should basically contain the following;

1. Ample time for you to make it work
I recommend between six weeks to 3 months because email success doesn’t just happen overnight…
2. List cleaning
If you want your list to be healthy you need to add this
3. List segmenting
To boost the efficiency and potency of your sales emails
4. Connection building emails
To increase readability and humanize your brand
5. Problem solving emails
To increase authority and stand out
6. Emails that sell
Ummmm, it’s 2023, people on your email list know you’ll try to make money from them just like your followers know you’ll try to make money from them.
Stop sneaking it in at a corner and just do it boldly.
7. Steady A/B tests

You’ll have to move these around and decide which will happen when, but this is a solid strategy that will bring you result that has brought results over time.

Incorporate this and you should be good to go.

Which of these will you be doing during your next launch?
