Why build an audience? Everyone constantly talks about the importance of promoting your business through social media, but what can you do once you have actually brought one together. People get uncomfortable when you start talking about monetizing but the fact is that if you are a business in the internet you are there to get more customers. What most businesses aren’t thinking a out is the other ways they can generate money from having an audience. Any time someone has a collection of attention they can convert that into money. Over the next several days I am going to talk about the different revenue streams you can generate from having a large audience. The first of these is the most obvious. Selling your main product or service. If you are a plumber this means getting more plumbing calls and if you are a real estate agent it means selling more houses. The main thing to remember about this (especially i. the service industry)is that it will likely be a fairly small percentage of your audience that takes advantage of your main product. Usually only 1-2% of your audience will ever purchase the main function of your business. That doesn’t mean you can’t potentially earn more money from the rest of your audience.
