For a very long time, a woman having an opinion didn’t necessarily mean anyone thought it was worth hearing. Serious matters, after all, were considered men’s territory.

Women were supposed to be quiet, obedient and agreeable — to know their place and leave the serious thinking and decision-making to men.

Funny how an opinion still becomes considerably more irritating when a woman refuses to keep it to herself.
