A love letter written from my grandpa to my grandma during WW2:
Italy, Saturday, November 25, 1944
Dearest Peachie, I think It is about time I devoted a letter to you exclusively and tell you how much you mean to me. No matter how many times I tell you how beautiful and lovely you are and how much I love you, I could never express fully my feelings for you. You are the greatest thing that ever happened to me and I’m glad you waited until I came along. We certainly were meant for each other and if we had never met I’m sure I would’ve remained a bachelor all my life. Faith just couldn’t be so unkind as to keep us from meeting. When I think of the love and happiness you have given me and the happiness that the future holds I consider myself very fortunate even if we are separated temporarily. Then in addition to being the most beautiful wife in the world, the best cook and housekeeper, you present me with the handsomest son in the world. You are a truly wonderful goo-girl and anything I can ever do to make you happy I will do no matter what little differences we may have in the future. You can be sure that I really do love you and if I should ever be out of sorts with you just show me this letter and I will realize how much you have done for me and how thankful I should be for having you for my wife. Never does a minute pass that I don’t think of you and our future happiness. Just to be with you is all I ask from life and I would be perfectly satisfied if everything else ceases to exist. I need nothing else to make me contented, just you and your love. I am yours alone forever. All my love and kisses. Your own Horgie.
