I think one of the biggest misconceptions about websites is that people assume they convert because they “look high-end.”
And sure... visual perception does matter.
People absolutely judge credibility based on design.
But that’s rarely the real reason someone doesn’t buy.
Most of the time, the website just never guided them to a decision in the first place.
They landed on the site…
felt slightly confused…
didn’t fully understand the offer…
weren’t emotionally sold on the outcome…
started questioning whether it would work for them…
and left.
Not because the offer was bad.
The website just created too much friction for the brain to comfortably say yes.
And once you start understanding websites through the lens of psychology and decision-making…
you genuinely can’t unsee it.
You start noticing:
• websites that create clarity instantly
• websites that accidentally create hesitation
• websites that feel trustworthy
• websites that somehow make buying feel weirdly exhausting
That’s the difference between pretty design and strategic design.
One gets compliments.
One gets conversions.
