Consider this your guide to running holiday ads this season šŸŽ„šŸ“

Every year, business owners start wondering whether they need to throw money at Meta to compete during the holiday season. And while paid advertising can be a GREAT way to get your products, services, and holiday promotions in front of more people, it isn’t a requirement for having a successful Q4. You can absolutely make sales without running a single ad, and you can also spend hundreds of dollars on ads that don’t make you a single buckin’ sale🫠

The difference comes down to understanding what you’re trying to accomplish, whether your business is actually ready for paid advertising, how much you can afford to spend, and which numbers you should be tracking. More reach doesn’t automatically mean more revenue, and a $500 ad budget doesn’t guarantee $5,000 in sales.

So before you start throwing money at Zuckerberg and hoping for a Christmas miracle, swipe through this guide. We’re breaking down the pros and cons of running ads, what happens when you don’t, how to determine your budget, and how to tell whether your advertising dollars are actually doing their job.

And remember, paid ads should SUPPORT your existing marketing efforts, not replace them. Your organic content, email marketing, website, customer experience, and overall strategy still matter just as much.

Save this one before you start planning your holiday campaigns. Your marketing budget will thank you šŸ™ƒ

To everyone who has ever shared a post, tagged a friend, recommended a business, left a kind comment, or hyped someone up when they weren’t in the room… THANK YOUšŸ’™

One thing I will always love about social media is its ability to connect people, create opportunities, and help small businesses grow. Both Buckin’ Good Media and Buckin’ Good Energy were built around that idea, just in slightly different ways. One is about helping businesses grow, and the other is about spreading a little more positivity (with a healthy dose of attitude, obviously šŸ˜‚).

And here’s your reminder that supporting someone doesn’t always mean spending money. Sometimes it’s sharing their work, telling a friend about their business, celebrating their wins, or simply reminding them that what they’re doing matters. Those little things can have a much bigger impact than you realize.

So here’s to the people who give a buck about other people, support small businesses, and spread some buckin’ good energy while they’re at it. You’re our kind of people āš”ļøšŸ’™šŸ«¶šŸ»

I honestly feel like one of my greatest gifts is coming up with nicknames for me pets šŸ˜‚

What are your pets name and what nicknames have you come up with for them?

One of the questions I get asked ALL the time in client meetings is, ā€œIf our reach keeps increasing, why aren’t we seeing a bigger increase in followers?ā€

Welcome to what I’m calling the follower recession šŸ™ƒ

People simply aren’t following accounts the way they used to. Think about how you personally use Instagram now. You probably watch Reels from people you don’t follow, save posts from accounts you’ve never seen before, send something to your barn group chat, visit a profile, maybe even click their website…and then continue scrolling without ever hitting follow. The algorithm has gotten so good at continuously serving us content from accounts we don’t follow that we don’t really need to follow someone to keep seeing their s**t.

So when I’m looking at a client’s monthly numbers and their reach is climbing but their follower count isn’t climbing at the same rate, I’m not immediately concerned. I want to know what those new people are doing after they see the content. Are profile visits increasing? Are they saving and sharing posts? Are they clicking links? Visiting the website? Sending DMs? Inquiring? Buying? Those numbers tell me a hell of a lot more about whether our marketing is doing its job than follower growth alone.

That doesn’t mean followers don’t matter. I still track follower growth for every client, and obviously we want people choosing to stick around. But your follower count is ONE KPI, not your entire buckin’ report card. If we reached 20,000 new people, drove more traffic to your website, increased inquiries, and made sales while only gaining 30 followers, I’m not going to sit in our meeting and tell you we had a bad month.

So if your reach is growing faster than your follower count right now, don’t immediately assume something is wrong. Start looking at the rest of your KPIs and what people are actually doing after they discover you. We’re not just trying to collect followers. We’re trying to build a business āš”ļøšŸ’™šŸ«¶šŸ»

Fun fact: I absolutely LOATHED social media in high school. Like, actively talked about how much I hated it, thought it was stupid, and was convinced it was going to turn all of our brains to mush. And listen… teenage me might have had a point tbh!!

I still have a very complicated relationship with social media. I don’t think it’s always a great thing. I think it can seriously affect our mental health, I think it’s contributed to people being a whole lot meaner to each other, and there are plenty of days when I would happily launch my phone directly into the sun.

But somewhere along the way, I had to learn how to use social media as a tool.

First for my own businesses. Then for other people’s businesses. And now I somehow have an entire business built around helping brands use the thing I once swore was going to destroy society. Honestly the irony is not lost on me šŸ˜‚šŸ«

Instagram and social media have quite literally helped me fund my life. It’s given me the opportunity to work with incredible businesses and brands all over the world. It’s allowed me to combine so many things I love (art, creativity, photography, marketing, storytelling, and horses) into a career that genuinely doesn’t feel like a ā€œreal jobā€ most days.

Social media gave me the opportunity to completely change paths. I left healthcare. I built something of my own. I created a career that allows me to live my life the way I want to live it and make a living doing work I actually give a buck about.

And THAT part I’ll never take for granted.

So, happy birthday, InstagramšŸŽ‚

I have a deeply committed love/hate relationship with you. You drive me absolutely buckin’ insane on a regular basis, your algorithm has personally offended me approximately 4,000 times, and I still think we’d all benefit from putting our phones down a little more often.

But you’re also the number one way I get leads and clients, so… thanks, bestie āš”ļøšŸ’™šŸ«¶šŸ»

Your inbox deserves a little less robot and a lot more you. Comment ā€œEMAILā€ and get all the info straight to your DMs!

We’re a writer and a marketer who kept seeing the same problem: businesses want to use email marketing, but somewhere along the way, genuine email marketing got replaced with, ā€œHey ChatGPT, write me an email.ā€

AI can give you words, but those words don’t always sound like you. They can feel generic, miss your personality, and leave out the stories and experiences that make people actually want to keep reading. Good email marketing should get personal, tell stories, build relationships, and give people a reason to give a buck about what you have to say.

That’s why we teamed up. You get a professional writer who knows how to tell your story + a marketing strategist who knows what that story needs to accomplish.

Our email marketing service includes 2 professionally written emails per month, strategy + planning, a 30-minute strategy meeting, email setup, scheduling + management, and performance tracking + recommendations. And, of course, zero AI-written email copy. What could be Buckin’ better than that?

It’s the story + the strategy. The human voice + the marketing behind it. No generic robot emails pretending to sound like you šŸ™ƒ

Ready to give your email list something worth opening this holiday season? Comment ā€œEMAILā€ and we’ll send the details straight to your DMs ⚔
