Often, when I'm initially contacted by a potential client looking for internet-integrated marketing and promotion, I ask whether they have done any work on their Google Business Page (GBP) and they usually remark that they did not even know they had one. I then launch into my usual spiel about GBPs and why they are such an incredibly useful, and potentially powerful, FREE tool for promoting your business. I thought I would share parts of my spiel with you.
Google spontaneously generates pages from many businesses but these are very sparse and contain the minimum of information. Such a spontaneously generated business page can be claimed by the owner and if you are interested in finding out how to do that, contact me and I will help you out.
Why would you want to have access to your business page? Because you can use it as a promotion and advertising tool at NO COST. DON'T FORGET - IN 2020, EVERYONE GOOGLES EVERYTHING - TELL THOSE GOOGLING YOU MORE ABOUT YOU AND WHAT YOU DO!
On a GBP, you can post photos about your business, you can include further details about the operations of your business and what services you provide, in considerable detail. You can take advantage of posts which are akin to a blog, not only with photos but also text to promote your business, with links to your website, for example.
If you have a website already, it is vitally important that you cross-link that website to your GBP to further enhance your Internet visibility. GBPs are also often a place where customers leave reviews and with some coaching, you can actually work on creating a decent bank of positive reviews that will make you stand out from other businesses in your service area.
