Although chasing virality isn’t necessarily name of the game when it come to being a success on social media, it’s still something that should be kept in mind when making content. In Part 3 of our “How to make viral content”, we discuss 3 more ideas for you to think about to get that next viral clip.

1. Make “clippable” content ✂️
In an era where short form content is dominanting the content creation space, being able to consciously infuse extractable moments from your long form videos is a skill you must learn. Big YouTubers and even podcasters have all recently started to make “clip” or “shorts” accounts to display moments from their videos in which they believe provides their audience with great value or entertainment.

2. Listen to your audience 👂
This is something we preach on this page a lot because of its importance. Listening to your audience can be the key to making that one viral clip or video that explode your channel. This could be as easy as looking at your insights and seeing what content of yours performs the best, analysing why you think it did well and repeating it. Make a series ! Give your people what they want.

3. Collaborate with other creators 🫂
You could be one collaboration away from your account blowing up and you don’t even know it. When audiences see their two favourite creators doing anything together it instantly makes them want to support them more. So now not only do you have your fans supporting your content, but you also have a new audience of potential fans who you wouldn’t of been exposed to had you not collabed with another creator.

Time and time again Instagram indirectly remind us just how fragile their platform can be sometimes and why it’s important to not rely on them solely as a creator. Earlier this week users of the app reported their follower counts decreasing randomly and some where even suspended from their accounts without warning.

Kylie Jenner was reported to have lost over 1.1 million followers due to the glitch and her sister Kim’s followers dropped by over 749,000.

Remember this isn’t the first time something like this has happened to Instagram. Throwback to 2021 when the great Facebook outage saw all of their social media subsidiaries go black for a period of 6-7 hours losing the company, and we’re sure creators as well, millions if not billions of dollars.

Being prepared for something like this could be start with you selling something of value to your audience or making sure you have an engaged audience on a range of different social media platforms. Take action today before it’s too late.

Instagram may be onto something good with their rumoured new reels element ‘Achievements’.

This new element will see creators be rewarded with unique badges based on the performance of their reels as an incentive to post more.

Some tech sources have compared the new badge ‘Creative Streak’ (that’s seen in the photo’s) to Snapchats ‘Snap Streak’, a staple element that all snapchatters no all to well about.

From a creators standpoint, receiving in app recognition for posting reels constantly could do a lot of good. For example, by keeping up a streak of posting daily reels creators will not only be honing in on their content creation skills but they will also be pushing their page to the algorithm harder.

Overall, Instagrams habit for biting ideas from other social media platforms has left a sour taste in the mouth of many users. However if Achievements were to come to the platform it would do the world of good to creators, especially those who are up and coming.

With an influx of videos going viral and people becoming creators everyday, it can seem daunting to aspire to be a memorable figure online. However it’s importance will never be lost so it’s crucial you implement some of these tips to show how to become one 🧠🤔 !

1️⃣. Be transparent.
Being a open book is not easy. Especially if you’re talking about something that means a lot to you. However as a creator you must remember that the internet can sometimes be a breeding ground for conversations with people who have gone through what you have and can relate to you on an experience level. Sharing more online can attract the right tribe of people to start following you and gain you life long supporters.

2️⃣. Integrate your name into your content. As a creator your face holds a lot of value for your overall brand because it’s usually the first thing people see. However what happens if your account suddenly disappears ? How will people search for you? How will people continue to support you? By integrating your name into every piece of content you make (in a natural way of course) you’re reminding your audience of who they are watching and also introducing new audiences to something they potentially want to be a part of.

3️⃣. Have a story.
“The most powerful person in the world is the storyteller. The storyteller sets the vision, values and agenda of an entire generation that is to come.” - Steve Jobs. Whether it’s sharing your funny experiences as a mother or letting your followers know what you did in a day, stories can dictate what your audience will eventually know you for and give them a reason to always come back to your content. If you can master how to tell a compelling story you’ll virtually be unforgettable.

One significant reason why people begin their journeys as content creators is to work with their favourite brands. Reaching out to said brands can be daunting for some. Use these tips to help you navigate this part of your content creation journey and to ease your fears 🙌🎯
Your introduction serves as a basis for your whole message. Brands probably get a lot of messages from creators so do your best to make your intentions of promoting or collaboration clear within the first two lines 🎯
When emailing have a link to all your socials and possibly your media kit to make it easier for the brand to access your content and rates 🔗
Include a how, what and why statement. Tell them who you are, a bit about your content, your personality, why you’d work well with them and potentially lay out a plan as to what type of content you’d like to make together 🗣
Ending your message can be as simple as thanking the brand in advance or wishing them well 🤝

These are 3 smart things creators do ➡️

1️⃣. They aren’t afraid to say no.

Sometimes the company that is reaching out to you won’t always align with your brand, your budget or your time. Learning to say no to these things will increase your value as a creator in the long term and portray your brand / image as more genuine .

2️⃣. They read about their industry/platforms everyday.

Educating yourself about the platform and industry you are on will make you aware of things that can be vital to your success as a creator. For example this could as simple as keeping with changes to the Instagram algorithm or staying on top of trends in your niche.

3️⃣. They make their own brand.

If you can sell and advertise someone else’s products, you can sell your own. Gone are the days where creators have to rely on brands to help them survive. As long as you have a loyal audience and a great team behind you, whatever you decide to sell will be destined to succeed.

If you’re a creator, are you doing these things?

What do brands look for in creators ?
1️⃣You’re a consistent poster.
Having the ability to post everyday and even multiple times per day shows brands that you know how to keep your audience engaged constantly and this increases their chances of wanting to work with you.

2️⃣A healthy engagement rate.
This is one of the first things that brands look for. Are your followers interacting with your posts ? Do they comment and share your content? Brands will look for this because they want to be certain that the product you’ll advertise on behalf of them will be bought by real people.

3️⃣You’ve spoken about the brand in the past.
Brands love a creator who is already familiar and regularly uses their products. This makes collaborating with them 10x easier. Keep this in mind the next time you’re making content.

Are you what brands are looking for ?
