Did you know…

⭐️ That the unstoppable Jimmy Donaldson, known as Mr. Beast (with a following of 162M on YouTube) is from Wichita, Kansas?

⭐️ Or that the teenage TikTok star, Charli D’Amelio, boasts a following of 203.7M and calls Norwalk, Connecticut, her hometown?

If not the hometown, then what makes a great creator?

To take a deeper look, we can compare these two, who were named as Forbes’ top two creators for 2022.

MrBeast's videos capitalize on being high energy, with an insane hook, and a consistent play on high risk/high reward. In interviews, he speaks of how he and his time are constantly innovating, growing, and challenging themselves to reach newer heights. There’s a powerfully driven strategy and passion behind everything that he does, and that’s why they pay him the big bucks: a whopping net $54 million a year. He noted that most of his revenue comes from ads on . :fire: :eyes:

In contrast, Charli D'Amelio rose to fame on after doing dance trends, filmed simply on her iPhone in her room. Her content has never been highly curated, yet is entertaining and relatable to her vast audience. The star cultivates this relatability with her vulnerability. She has openly spoken about her struggles with anxiety (check out her powerful dance from DWTS by searching “Charli Week 5 Contemporary” on YouTube) and even made her bio on the platform at one point “Don’t worry, I don’t get the hype either.” And yet, with every passing day, Charli’s hype continues to grow as she explores entrepreneurship, acting, professional dancing, and more.

Although these two creators may not have a ton in common, nor come from top cities like NYC or LA, they do overlap with a few qualities:

🏆 Talent - Let’s state the obvious: Both Mr. Beast and Charli D’Amelio have undisputed talent as entertainers. Although the former is charismatic and the latter, soft-spoken, they have a way of using their respective talents (video creation and dance) to amaze their followers.

🤗 Connection with their audience - Regularly interacting with them in their comments and going LIVE to bring them content they know that their audience would like, while remaining authentic

🎦 Creating ahead of the trends - Both creators were consistently posting and at the front of popular trends, whether it was trying an innovative idea or being the first to post a particular style of video.

🔥 Always looking for new opportunities to expand their personal brand - Whether it’s podcasts, a perfume line, personalized burger deliveries, a Disney/Hulu tv show, etc.

Now D’Amelio (18) resides in L.A. and Mr. Beast (24) in Greenville, North Carolina. Both are under 25 years old with the world at their fingertips. We’ll take a few notes from their choices and do our best to become even better creators when we post and go live. Because at the end of the day, to be a great creator – it doesn’t matter what city you’re from.
