We join the Universal Church in praying for the intentions of the Holy Father for the month of September: for the cry of the Earth.

We pray that each one of us will hear and take to heart the cry of the Earth and of victims of natural disasters and climactic change, and that all will undertake to personally care for the world in which we live 🙏

Our prayer this St. Patrick's Day and always...

☘️ Christ be with me, Christ within me
☘️ Christ behind me, Christ before me
☘️ Christ beside me, Christ to win me
☘️ Christ to comfort me and restore me.
☘️ Christ beneath me, Christ above me
☘️ Christ in quiet, Christ in danger
☘️ Christ in hearts of all that love me
☘️ Christ in mouth of friend or stranger.

Today is Ash Wednesday, a day of fast and abstinence to begin our Lenten journey.

Fasting is to be observed by all Catholics between the ages of 18 years and 59 years. One full meal is allowed. Two smaller meals may be taken as needed, but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted, but liquids are allowed.

Abstinence from meat is to be observed by all Catholics who are 14 years of age and older on Ash Wednesday and all Fridays of Lent, including Good Friday.
Note: If a person is unable to observe the above regulations due to ill health or other serious reasons, they are urged to practice other forms of self-denial that are suitable to their condition.

📢 PSA-Just in case anyone is confused about the mass obligations surrounding Christmas! 🎄

Although the bishops’ conference sometimes lifts the obligation to attend Mass on a Holy Day when it falls on a Saturday or Monday (such as Mary, Mother of God on Monday, January 1, 2024), the obligation to attend Mass on Christmas is never lifted.

The faithful are obliged to attend a Mass for the Fourth Sunday of Advent and a different Mass for Christmas Day. One Mass does not fulfill two obligations, however which Masses you attend does allow flexibility!

⛪ Saturday, December 23: Evening Mass for the Fourth Sunday of Advent

⛪ Sunday, December 24: Morning Masses for the Fourth Sunday of Advent; Evening Mass for the 4th Sunday of Advent OR Christmas Vigil

⛪ Monday, December 25: Mass for the Solemnity of Christmas.

For example, you could attend the first Mass on Sunday afternoon to fulfill the obligation for the Fourth Sunday of Advent (even though this Mass would celebrate the Vigil of Christmas) and also attend Midnight Mass to fulfill the Christmas obligation.

Hope this helps!
