I believe it is no coincidence that I met my Swiss man through work in Budapest, fell in love and ended up living in Switzerland.

Born and raised in Hungary, I have always been fascinated by other cultures and landscapes and started travelling on my own quite early. At 18 I worked as an au-pair in London for a year, but I never would have thought I’d leave Hungary to live somewhere else.

I often feel like being caught in an emotional limbo between my homeland (current political affairs excluded) and my host country - which also has become my home, my family, my safe space, but still… any of you experiencing this or something similar as well?

I have always been fascinated by media. Newspapers, magazines, TV, radio, and then…
I very well remember when during university years I signed up for the first ever seminar offered in the field: ‘Introduction to the Internet’. I was super excited to get my first email address and I was practically giggling during my first chat ever on ICQ from the library’s computer. I loved the immediate connection, availability, the speed and easily accessible information galore.

It has never been a main career path for me though, I only got ‘back’ to it when I left my homeland for love and it became the major tool of communication with my beloveds in Hungary and friends abroad.

Social media has so much to offer that I love: connection, communication, photography, creative writing, graphic design, logistics (yes, I am a sucker for good logistics), just to mention a few of my hobby horses.

It keeps me on my feet, fresh on trends, innovative with solutions and I am still fascinated by its endless, ever evolving and indispensable marketing possibilities.

ɪ ᴀᴍ ɴᴏᴛ ᴀ ᴍᴏʀɴɪɴɢ ᴘᴇʀꜱᴏɴ.

Ask my husband. The poor man is practically avoiding contact with me in the morning 🤭.
If I could, I would stay in bed long, ᴡᴀᴀᴀᴀᴀʏ longer than advised.
But not being a teenager on a Sunday, I can’t.

Since becoming a ꜰʀᴇᴇʟᴀɴᴄᴇʀ, I had to change my daily routine completely and I get up latest at 5:30, feed and walk the dog, grab a quick glass of warm lemon/ginger water and a half a litre mug of tea, sit down at my desk and work till 7:30. Then I wake up my kids, who need my ᴠᴇʀʏ persuasive support to get ready and actually leave for school. I used to tidy up after this, but now I don’t. I just try to get as many things done on my work-agenda as possible before I start preparing lunch at 11 for the above-mentioned kids. Maybe a quick coffee 10ish, if I am not on a call.

I hope we’ll get to write about our ɪᴅᴇᴀʟ morning routine soon as well. ʜɪɴᴛ, ʜɪɴᴛ, .art.of.slow.sipping 😉!

I am on the right track in my profession as a social media manager and fuelled by the positive feedback I am getting from my clients, acquaintances and friends closely following my path.

𝘔𝘺 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘨𝘰𝘢𝘭𝘴 for the next 365 days are

On my 5-year 𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘣𝘰𝘢𝘳𝘥 there are new goals however: I would like to do further education in

What is a social media burnout?

“𝚂𝚘𝚌𝚒𝚊𝚕 𝚖𝚎𝚍𝚒𝚊 𝚒𝚜 𝚋𝚞𝚛𝚗𝚘𝚞𝚝 𝚒𝚜 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚎𝚡𝚝𝚎𝚗𝚝 𝚝𝚘 𝚠𝚑𝚒𝚌𝚑 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚏𝚎𝚎𝚕 𝚎𝚡𝚑𝚊𝚞𝚜𝚝𝚎𝚍 𝚞𝚜𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚜𝚘𝚌𝚒𝚊𝚕 𝚖𝚎𝚍𝚒𝚊.” - 𝑀𝒶𝓈𝑜𝑜𝓂𝒶 𝑀𝑒𝓂𝑜𝓃, .studiio

I am social media manager and content creator, so I spend a lot of time on Instagram, Facebook and other platforms.

If you are running your own small business and juggle everything by yourself never fully “switching off”, it can be difficult to find balance when you’re using SM for work.

While I find it great for building a community and making sales for your business, it can also take a toll on your mental health.

Time spent scrolling, looking for inspirations, answering DMs and responding to comments can easily add up.

And the social media burnout is real - a form of online fatigue that can happen when you spend too much time on social networks.

To create a more mindful digital space that also helps protect your mental health, try to implement the following tips that help you unplug:

* Mute push notifications on instagram
* Schedule your instagram content in advance
* Manage your time spent on instagram
* Block offensive comments
* Delete multiple comments in one go
* Choose who can mention or tag you
* Restrict (or block) hateful accounts
* Unfollow (or mute) accounts that don’t make you feel good

ᴛʜᴀᴛ’ꜱ ᴀʟʟ ᴠᴇʀʏ ɢᴏᴏᴅ, ʙᴜᴛ ʜᴏᴡ?!, you might ask. Let me know in the comments which tip you’d like me to elaborate on and I’ll get back to you.

Wishing you great mental health, Zˢᵘᶻˢᵃⁿⁿᵃ

- “𝙰𝚗𝚜𝚠𝚎𝚛 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚖𝚘𝚜𝚝 𝚌𝚘𝚖𝚖𝚘𝚗 𝚚𝚞𝚎𝚜𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗.”

The ultimate question I get from people interested in my services is: 𝙷𝚘𝚠 𝚍𝚘 𝙸 𝚝𝚞𝚛𝚗 𝚏𝚘𝚕𝚕𝚘𝚠𝚎𝚛𝚜 𝚒𝚗𝚝𝚘 𝚌𝚞𝚜𝚝𝚘𝚖𝚎𝚛𝚜?

“If content is king, then conversion is queen.” (John Munsell)

Gaining followers is not enough. If your followers do not convert, you might need to rethink your marketing strategy.

✪ 𝙵𝚘𝚌𝚞𝚜 on increasing your productivity: show up regularly and dedicate time to getting your brand noticed by posting authentic and consistent content
✪ Post 𝚚𝚞𝚊𝚕𝚒𝚝𝚢 content
✪ Track and analyse - 𝚊𝚗𝚊𝚕𝚢𝚝𝚒𝚌𝚜 are high-powered guides, not just numbers. Track your competitors’ post performance too to get the bigger picture what your audience wants and likes
✪ 𝚃𝚎𝚖𝚙𝚝𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗 - run fresh and interesting contests, create conversations and stories
✪ Acknowledge your 𝚝𝚛𝚒𝚋𝚎 - always respond to comments, feedback and queries, highlight your followers, be active in the online community, reach out to new followers individually
✪ Plan 𝚐𝚘𝚊𝚕-𝚍𝚛𝚒𝚟𝚎𝚗 brand-campaigns
✪ Be loyal to your followers - 𝚊𝚕𝚠𝚊𝚢𝚜 fulfill your promises, be consistent

So plan your marketing strategies, provide irresistible offers and calls-to-action, share stories with your fans and encourage them to participate in conversations. Once they feel connected with your brand, they will readily turn into customers, as well as refer you to their family and friends.

How do I stay motivated? - the ups and downs of my motivation-rollercoaster 🎢

There are times when working is easy as pie. Thankfully, most of the time.
But there are other times when motivating myself to get stuff done is next to impossible. I have learnt during these moments, it is up to me to create my own motivation because odds of me simply finding it converge to zero.

✪ I use ᴇxᴇʀᴄɪsᴇ as a daily goal, as it improves my mental wellbeing - walk the dog, jog or doing yoga at home🧘🏽‍♀️

✪ ᴘʟᴀɴɴɪɴɢ the week ahead every Friday and the next day every evening - khm, there’s still space for improvement here, but that’s alright as I have the family and the household to think of as well. But IF i get it done, it’s amazing, I sleep better and I start my next day clean and more focussed 🗓

✪ ᴄᴇʟᴇʙʀᴀᴛɪɴɢ my achievements, however small 🎉

🎡How do ʏᴏᴜ control your motivation levels?

INSTAGRAM IS ALL ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS.

My #1 ⓉⒾⓅ is to follow those, who INTEREST you. This advice is clear when you are a private/personal account. But what about when your Insta profile stands for your business? It can be confusing.

ₚₑᵣₛₒₙₐₗ
I follow my family and friends and a great number of accounts whose content appeals to me from cute puppy videos through DIY posts to my heroes like Salman Rushdie and Michelle Obama: I see, I like, I follow.
And when their content takes a direction that doesn’t appeal to me any more, I unfollow. (I will NEVER unfollow you, Mr. Rushdie ♡.)

Bᵤₛᵢₙₑₛₛ
I follow my clients: engaging with them takes leaps and bounds in the right direction.
I make sure the content I see on feeds and in stories is relevant to me and my business and it is worth my time.
I am a solopreneur, so no associates or business partners to follow, but I also follow those I occasionally work with in my line of business: SEO experts, photographers, journalists, printers, event organisers.
I also follow ‘example setters’ for social media, digital marketing, graphic - and video design: these accounts inspire me and I learn from them and I see what’s working for them and what gets tossed.
This is also a beginner client ⓉⒾⓅ: you’ve got to see how others in your line of business use Insta: it will significantly improve YOUR account success.

Dₒₙ'ₜ
❌I do not automatically follow everyone who follows me, it could be like opening a can of worms, a.k.a. letting spam accounts in. ⓉⒾⓅ: ALWAYS verify accounts before following them.
❌NOT a fan of follow-for-follow either, only if I am interested in their content. Otherwise it brings no engagement.
❌My final ⓉⒾⓅ to you: NEVER follow someone just to get them to follow you and then unfollowing them in return. It’s considered a highly inappropriate Instagram behaviour.

Being a solopreneur, building up, running and expanding your business by yourself can be stressful, taxing, and incredibly overwhelming. When on top you are dealing with your SM marketing as well, you need to navigate your relationship with social media and your mental health.
Easier said than done?
Try to incorporate some of the following tips in your daily routine:

#1: ᴋᴇᴇᴘ ʏᴏᴜʀꜱᴇʟꜰ ɪɴ ᴄʜᴇᴄᴋ ʙʏ ꜱᴇᴛᴛɪɴɢ ʙᴏᴜɴᴅᴀʀɪᴇꜱ ᴀɴᴅ ᴛᴀᴋɪɴɢ ʀᴇɢᴜʟᴀʀ ʙʀᴇᴀᴋꜱ.
Schedule your time between work and real-life, and then actually COMIT to those boundaries and schedules.
It can be anything from responding to DMs only in a 40-min time block or allocating time for a daily walk or workout to loging off every day at a certain time.
CONSISTENCY is key.

#2: ᴅᴀɪʟʏ ᴅɪɢɪᴛᴀʟ ᴅᴇᴛᴏx
Spend time focused on something else that doesn’t include scrolling: e.g. go on your daily walk without your phone. I recently discovered embroidery thanks to Our Happy Place and I try to set 15’ a day to work on it.

#3: ᴅᴏɴ’ᴛ ᴄᴏᴍᴘᴀʀᴇ ʏᴏᴜʀꜱᴇʟꜰ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴏᴛʜᴇʀꜱ
As a one-person show, it serves you no purpose to compare yourself to a business that has a social media team, resources, and tools that you simply don’t have.
Set your own expectations and be proud of what you’ve accomplished.
Give yourself credit, where credit is due. Be proud of the work that you’re doing! This is the hardest for me, but I’m on it.

#4: ꜰɪɴᴅ ꜱᴏᴍᴇ ᴍɪɴᴜᴛᴇꜱ ᴛᴏ ᴄʜɪʟʟ
Mental health apps are really helpful, relaxing, reducing anxiety, making you mindful of your surroundings, keeping you calm and focused.
You can listen to them in the background during your morning routine, or where you need complete concentration. When I participate with client accounts in online challenges, I always put on my noise-cancelling headphones with my special Spotify playlist or click on the Calm app.

#5: ɢᴇᴛ ꜰʀᴇꜱʜ ᴀɪʀ
Understand the importance of fresh air. Combat the endless Zoom meetings or staring at your screens, try ‘no desk meetings’ that require you to get outside. I usually take my dog for a walk in the nearby forest.
