WHEN IS ICE OUT?!

This was the outlet in West Gardiner this morning. Water is flowing, but Cobbossee is still covered in ice.

When do you think ice out will be this year? Middle of April? End of April?

So here’s the deal, does anyone else feel like New Year’s resolutions suck?

Same, girl, saaaaaame.

So instead of setting “resolutions” I have learned to create trackable goals with a little fluff in between, and over the last few years it has gone really well.

These are the things that work for me as a chaotic type A girly who should probably have an ADHD diagnosis. So in short, if these work for me, they will probably work for you, too. 😉

Here are the five things I do every year to prepare for a new year.

1. Pick a word of the year.

This is not a novel idea, but it is one that has really worked for me, so long as I remember it all year long. I’ve gone the route of using an online word picker and picking a word for myself. I have found the self-picked word based on who I want to be in the following year has gone much better. This year my word is “intention”.

2. Creat a fresh budget.

Even if your financial situation has not changed, it is still worth it to actually create a new budget every year that reflects your financial goals. Digitally “touch” every single bill and expense you have so you can identify if it is still serving you and if there is a way to save money. Suddenly, the down payment for the house, the early debt pay off, or the big trip seem more obtainable.

In years past I have made my own budget, but this year I am using the one from and it’s great.

3. Set a realistic reading goal on

Everyone should read. It is so much better for you than social media and it is more approachable than ever. In 2024 I read 77. In 2025 I plan to read 25. No matter the season, I plan to read.

4. Create a vision board for my phone and computer background.

I am a visual learner and I have found that this is the best way to keep me focused when it comes to my financial and personal goals. I use & .

5. Clean out mu “follows” and/or friend list.

If you are like me, you spend too much time on social. In 2020 I decided I wanted to at least have that time be enriching. You are what you consume, and as I have changed so has my feed.

What do you do to prep for a new year?

Danielle + Scott + Milo
September 2024
Carrabassett Valley, Maine

I DEFINITELY don’t have favorite clients, but if I did, Danielle and Scott would be on that list. 😉

Every session with this family feels like a warm hug. They are so in love with each other that it radiates onto to everyone else around them.

I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to capture maternity photos for Danielle and now photos of Milo in his newborn months.

One of my favorite parts of this session was the challenge to capture a few photos of Milo that do not show his face so there would be a few for the parents and myself to post on social.

So, while you will not see all of the great photos in this session, I hope you still love the ones that Danielle and I selected to share of their sweet family. 🤍

Keep an eye out! I will be sharing my availability for 2025 (hopefully) this week!

Now is the time to snag a session before my year fills up. I will have limited dates next year to make room for my family, full time job, and additional travel commitments.

As a thank you for securing a spot ahead of time, I will honoring 2024 pricing for 2025 sessions! My price has not gone up since opening in 2020, so this Jump will be significant to make up for inflation and my increase in experience and skills.

I love you all! So excited to share my last few sessions of 2024 + to kick off an amazing 2025. 🤍
