DSSI MKTG We transform & tell the stories of entrepreneurs. Your story is your strongest asset. Use it well.

To be an entrepreneur, you have to feel empowered.

In making a change.
Breaking out on your own.
Creating a career that works for you.

But empowerment isn’t given equally to all.

This year, International Women’s Day is about women’s empowerment.

Turning self-determination into action.

It’s what any hard-working person needs to become an industry leader.

And it comes from being represented.

To get strong women leaders in the workplace, we need to show that it’s possible.

Tell the stories that already exist.

Open up opportunities for women to succeed.

Empower from the ground up.

At DSSI, we work to get the real, authentic stories of our clients out there in the world.

We’ve stepped into the shoes of professionals in fields across the board.

From financial planning and services, to architecture and the building industry, to community driven organizations …

We know there’s a need for more women leaders.

And a reason to tell their stories whenever we can.

It’s getting those women in the spotlight that’s going to promote and uplift other women entrepreneurs.

Entrepreneurs aren’t created overnight.

They’re empowered.

You need your own personal newsroom. At DSSI, we all started out in journalism.

We’ve worked in newsrooms, we’ve written to a daily deadline, and we’ve become near-experts on topics within an eight-hour workday — by necessity.

If you’re having trouble connecting with your audience …
If you’re not sure your story is interesting enough to share …
If your social media marketing is running on empty, is nonexistent, or just isn’t working for you …

Then a team of journos-turned-marketers might be just what you need.

Because we’re accustomed to interviewing people to get their best stories out of them.

We know how to find the heart of the story — the part that will connect with an audience.

We know how to take technical jargon and complex ideas and translate them into language anyone can understand.

We know how to take numbers, facts, and details, and make them into a story.

Your story deserves to be told with authenticity and impact.
With passion and precision.
With clarity and creativity.

And at DSSI, that’s what we do best.

Your audience’s trust is way more valuable than a quick conversion.

That’s why we market your business by telling its stories.

Ones that highlight just how important investing in your services could be to the people who need them.

Ones that show the right audience why you can solve the problem they already know they have.

So you get clients who trust you.

Who actually stick around.

And who are excited about what you can bring to them.

Because telling a good story?

That's 1000x better than telling a convincing lie.

What’s the benefit of interviewing your clients? A lot actually.

There’s more to it than just getting a good quote or clip.

If we were to just ask our clients to give us a list of every important thing about their businesses, we’d probably get a lot of cookie-cutter thoughts.

When the business was created.
What it is they actually do.
What their goals are.

Answers to questions they’ve answered a million times and have the perfect response for.

But as much as those details are helpful for our knowledge …

They are details that play it safe, and stay inside the box.

Not the kind of details that add colour …

Bring out personality …

And tell a good story.

We need to convince a distinct audience that the client we’re writing for is the business they want to work with.

On DSSI’s editorial team, most of us have journalism backgrounds.

We know the value you get from an interview, from hearing it from the horse’s mouth. (Yes, even if you’ve heard it before.)

It’s how we get at what really makes them and their story unique …

And then push a little bit further.

So we can get into their shoes …

And outside of the box.

At DSSI, we don’t know your business as well as you do.

After all, we didn’t create it, you did.

But as trained and experienced journalists, we know what questions to ask to understand your business and its story.

And as content marketers, we see just how we could break that story down into its building blocks.

We can create a logical progression of content that explains who you are and what you do …

In a way that it stays true to you, but is digestible for your audience.

That way you can get your story out there and make an impact on your future clients.

You and your business have a really interesting story.

We’d love to help you tell it.

DSSI is officially a threenager. Measure us up against the door frame. We’ve grown SO MUCH.

Wasn’t it yesterday when we were small?

Well, this year was big, and now we’re big too.

We’re stronger as a team.
Smarter in our systems.
Some big wins under our belts.
With some educational tumbles too.

We’re bigger, we’re smarter, we’re faster, and … we make a lot of noise.

If you thought the Twos were Terrible, you haven’t seen anything yet.

Three is when we become an unstoppable force.

Last year, we told more stories and helped more clients than ever before.

We grew our team.
Grew our client base.
And our clients grew too.

Three years ago we were a gleam in Geoff Davies’ eye.

Two years ago our core team first came together.
(👋hi Gina, Vincenzo, Leigh, and our old friend Brendan too!)

One year ago … well, more on that later.

The time has gone by in the blink of an eye.

We’re so grateful to have worked with so many talented entrepreneurs.

Grateful to be a team together, and to work with such smart, creative collaborators.

All of you are the bestest birthday gift.

Thank you for joining us on our journey.

Goodbye Terrible Twos.
Hello Thrilling Threes.

As DSSI enters its fourth year — our busiest yet — we’ve learned a lot about the necessity of rest.

Without downtime, you get burned out.

We at DSSI are in this for the long haul, so we tell our team and our clients the same thing:

You need to take recharging your batteries just as seriously as you take your work.

So have a one-minute vacation right now and check out DSSI founder Geoff Davies breaking it down in the video.

As for us, after a relaxing holiday break, we’re recharged and energized.

We hope you are too.

Imagine a chicken egg like you’d get from the grocery store. Imagine it growing in size.

Doubling and tripling in size and then cracking open and a giant hawk bursts out of it and soars toward the sun, beating its powerful wings and screeching and breathing fire.

That was DSSI in the year 2024.

We grew, we changed, we learned, we breathed fire.

We’re coming up on three years of existence, and 2024 was a big one for us.

We took on new teammates, new clients, new responsibilities, and tried new foods.

But most importantly, we made a real difference for our clients and their businesses.

We increased sales, newsletter signups, clicks, and much more for our clients.

When our clients told us their pain points and their goals, we’re proud to say we were able to turn things around for them.

We helped our clients meet those goals and get rid of those pain points.

And that was always our goal for DSSI, from the beginning.

If we could make a real difference for an entrepreneur or a small business, that would mean that we had succeeded.

So 2024 was a year of successes.

We did it as a team, and we had a good time while doing it.

Our team is usually on separate ends of the country.

At times, during this year, we were on separate continents.

But we were always on the page (and the same Zoom window) and working towards the same goal.

And 2025 is when this fire-breathing hawk takes it up another notch.

What comes after fire-breathing hawk?

Maybe we get a leather jacket and laser beam eyes as well.

Thank you to our clients, and Happy New Year from the whole team at DSSI.

Gather ‘round the hearth, business children.

I will tell you a tale about a jolly and generous bearded entrepreneur whose good works earned him immortality in song form.

Good Entrepreneur Wenceslas looked out, and saw a problem that needed solving.

With a service-oriented mindset, Wenceslas set out to resolve it.

A poor man was out there, looking for firewood in the frost and snow.

And Good Entrepreneur Wenceslas didn’t just observe problems.

Entrepreneurs are the architects of solutions.

They engage, they empathize, they take action.

So Good Entrepreneur Wenceslas called for his page to walk with him, in the bitter cold, to the man’s home to deliver wine, meat, and logs.

The essence of entrepreneurship is an unwavering commitment to providing value.

Good Entrepreneur Wenceslas left comfort and warmth to do just that.

The spirit of the season is also the spirit of entrepreneurship.

The best entrepreneurs deliver a valuable, wonderful, life-changing service to their clients and customers.

And when you give value, you get it back.

In Good Entrepreneur Wenceslas’ case, it was a popular Christmas song where they call him a king.

Maybe the next big Christmas song will be about you.

Charles Dickens didn’t invent Christmas, but he made it what it is today.

How? Passion.

Ever the entrepreneur, Dickens was the most commercially successful author of his time.

He toured the world selling tickets to his animated and theatrical book readings.

His passion for stories and performance made him rich.

And his experiences with debt and working long hours in a factory made him empathetic to the poor.

In 1843, Christmas had become a bit unfashionable.

It had gone from being a long festive season to a meagre hiccup of a celebration.

Bosses during the Industrial Revolution gave their workers long, hard hours …

And only gave them one day off for Christmas.

Dickens lamented the loss of the idyllic Christmases from his youth.

These Scrooges were ruining Christmas with their greed.

So he set out to "strike a sledge hammer blow" for the poor.

He set out to underline that Christmas is a time of giving, of love, a time to help your fellow human.

Like every entrepreneur does, he set out to change the world.

A Christmas Carol sold out its initial print run in a week.

It went on to sell millions and millions of copies worldwide in the two hundred years since.

And it revitalized and popularized Dickens’ philosophy of what Christmas should be.

Passion is what drove Dickens, and it’s what drives all entrepreneurs.

When you’re passionate about your work, you have a guiding light.

Your passion directs you, motivates you, and sets you apart.

It’s what allows entrepreneurs to change the world.
