Mexico’s hidden gems Pt 2 🇲🇽

Another side of Mexico, captured through my own illustrations and photographs. 🇲🇽✨

This part of the journey was all about culture, traditions, and landscapes. From the colourful streets of San Cristóbal de las Casas and the towering cliffs of Cañón del Sumidero where we saw crocodiles, to the vibrant city of Oaxaca, where we had the chance to experience Día de los Mu***os.

Seeing this celebration in person was unforgettable. The streets were filled with cempasúchil flowers, beautifully decorated altars (ofrendas), candles, calaveras, catrinas, music, and families coming together to honour loved ones. It’s a tradition full of colour, symbolism, and remembrance. Very different from how it’s often portrayed.

The journey ended on the Pacific coast in Puerto Escondido, the perfect place to slow down after weeks of exploring.

Mexico continues to surprise me with its incredible diversity. Every region has its own history, traditions, and atmosphere, making each stop feel completely different from the last.

Hidden gems of Mexico Part 1 🇲🇽

This collection is a mix of my own illustrations and photographs, capturing the places that left the biggest impression on me. From the ancient wonders of Chichén Itzá, Tulum and Palenque, to swimming in crystal-clear cenotes, snorkeling with turtles in Akumal, wandering the colorful streets of Valladolid, discovering the untouched beauty of Sian Ka’an, kayaking across the turquoise waters of Bacalar, cooling off at the giant waterfalls in Palenque, seeing the rescued animals of Aluxes Eco Park, and tasting the local cuisine along the way.

Mexico is so much more than its famous beaches. It’s a country filled with history, nature, wildlife, and vibrant culture. I hope these illustrations inspire you to discover some of its hidden treasures too. 💛

I created this digital illustration for the flags at Domaine D’Haulme 🏕️🌿

They wanted to showcase the different animals you can spot around the campsite and celebrate the beauty of nature there and of course, I was happy to take on this lovely assignment!

In a few weeks, I’ll be heading back to take more photos of the flags in their natural setting.

I created three sweater designs based on my own analogue watercolor paintings that I made in the past 👩‍🎨. Each design translates these original aquarelle artworks into a wearable piece. 🎨👕Within the next few days, one final design will be selected as the best of the three.
