If you’re reading this, you’re probably a business owner… or at least you think you are.

Although I own a business, I realized I am really just self employed.

The reason I say that is because I can’t just disappear for months on end and have the business function perfectly while I am gone.

Can you?

While I can’t yet, my goal over the next 12 months is to systemize everything and put the people and processes in place so the business can run without me.

I love what I do and would never want to stop working, but I want to free up my time to focus on the big picture.

That idea of that gets me super excited so I am going to work hard to get there.

Would you rather work on your business rather than in it too?

If so, I encourage you to take this journey with me and create a plan to achieve this goal within the next 12 months.

🤩 Find YOUR tribe! 🤩

I was out to lunch on Sunday at a really cool restaurant where its floor to ceiling open windows, up in the treetops. It sits right over the water and it was a beautiful scene.

All of a sudden a group of modified motorcycles drove down the street, the sound was deafening.

I could see people below felt the same way I was feeling, annoyed.

Then I thought about how this was a perfect analogy to “finding your tribe” in marketing.

98% of people probably hated those motorcycles going by, but there are always going to be those 2% who loved it and want a motorcycle of their own.

In order to be successful in marketing, you need to find the people who resonate with your message.

These are the people who will be your loyal customers and advocates.

When you are trying to market to everyone, you end up marketing to no one.

By narrowing your focus and finding your tribe, you can create a message that speaks directly to them and build a strong relationship with them.

When you find your tribe, you can create content that resonates with them and build a community around your brand.

This will help you to stand out in a crowded marketplace and attract more of the right people to your business.

So, take the time to identify your tribe and craft your message specifically for them. It may take some time and effort, but it will be worth it in the end.

I hope this helps!

🤖 The Future of AI 🤖

McKinsey said by 2030, AI will take 20 to 50 million jobs.

Already that number has been updated to over 70 million.

This is not a doomsday prediction, but an opportunity.

Like any new tech, old jobs are eliminated but new ones are created.

After all, who is going to entertain the robots when they take over? Jk 😛

In reality, AI, used right, can allow a small business to increase it’s output and productivity by 10x or more.

Many of us remember when the iPhone first came out and we thought “Screw that, I’ll stick with my Blackberry!”

That time is upon us again and I believe the companies that embrace AI and leverage it over the next few years will grow in unbelievable ways.

If you haven’t spent time looking into business applications for AI, please do so ASAP.

I promise it’ll be worth your time!

Is your volume up?

I don’t mean your speaker volume, I mean your outreach volume.

If you’re looking to generate B2B leads, volume is key and most people drastically underestimate the volume they need.

You don’t go to the gym for 2 weeks, lift for 4 hours a day and become ripped.

It’s MUCH more important to be consistent for a long period of time.

Your results depend on it.

If one person works out 4 hours every day for 2 weeks and another person works out 1 hour per day for 3 days a week for 6 months, which do you think will look better?

Volume and consistency are key and can create predictable revenue for you.

Please understand when doing any type of outreach to potential customers, you typically need to reach between 100 and 200 contacts AND follow up 2 to 3 times each just to get a meeting.

Put in the time and energy to figure out the best consistent strategy you can create to hit your goals and be consistent.

If you do that you’ll reach your goals!

What a game!

While I didn’t have a horse in this race (I’m a Giants fan sadly), but I thought the game was super entertaining to watch.

Tons of action, a comeback, and it came right down to the final drive.

After the game was over I was thinking about all of the companies that paid INSANE amounts to put up a 30 second commercial and it got me thinking.

What are they really paying for?

The answer, like all marketing, is attention.

They are getting a HUGE population to all watch their 30 second clip at the same time. Now in reality, tons of people are NOT paying attention to the commercials at all but that is the hope of advertisers.

Where do most people’s attention turn when the commercials come on???

Their phone!

Using modern strategies you can be right in front of your ideal customer and get their attention where they put it most, their phone.

Using LinkedIn, you can find exactly what groups your prospect belongs to.

Using Facebook, you can target people who like a certain brand or have a certain job.

Using Google, you can rank for key terms that your prospect would be searching for.

The best part is, these avenues aren’t going to cost you $5 million for 30 seconds.

Often, you can target your ideal customer for only a few hundred per month.

No need to master every strategy but why not pick one and go for it. The risk is small and the gain can be massive!

The Egyptians Knew a Marketing Secret?

Stories of the Ancient Egyptians were always so interesting to me.

How did they build those pyramids with seemingly ancient technology?

There are a ton of theories but I don’t know if we’ll ever know for sure.

I was watching a video about the pyramids last night and realized the ancient Egyptians knew a profound marketing principle too.

They understood the power of knowledge and developing advanced skills.

One of the only (realistic) explanations I can think of for how they built the pyramids was that they had advanced knowledge and a skill set to accomplish this goal.

Because of this knowledge and skill they constructed something that would be hard to replicate thousands of years later.

So what does that tell us about marketing?

It shows us that acquiring advanced skills, such as digital marketing, can give you a HUGE advantage over the competition and allow you to achieve seemingly impossible things.

One of the best places to start is with a book that helped me on my journey to marketing knowledge which is called “Dotcom Secrets” by Russell Brunson.

Russell gives the book away for free (you just pay shipping) and I wanted to give you the link because I know this book is worth your time.

Do you know how much it costs you to generate a new opportunity with a potential client?

For years we never truly tracked the number or paid a lot of attention to it.

Eventually, we realized this cost is one of the most important things to track.

Once you have a real way to generate consistent opportunities and know the cost to generate them, you can create a recipe for success.

Opportunity cost / close rate = customer acquisition cost

Example:

$500 per opportunity
25% close rate

That would mean it takes $2,000 to acquire a customer

Is that good or bad?

Depends on your average customer value.

If a client buys $10 worth of soap from you, that will put you out of business.

If a client buys a $25k service from you, you acquire a client for 10% of their value and you should probably do this as much as you can.

If you’re not tracking your cost per opportunity I urge you to track it for a few months and see if it sheds some light on your marketing efforts.

Is it worth it?

I’m talking about what your prospects buy from your business.

So many times people think of things in terms of “cost” rather than “worth” and it’s our job as business owners to showcase our products or services' “worth” to the client.

Some people only look at the cost and forget about its worth.

If you buy a book for $20 that inspires you to change your life, start eating healthy, and avoid a heart attack, what is that worth?

The cost is easy, it’s only $20.

But the worth is +10,000x that because it gave you a better life, more time with your family, and time on this earth.

We’ve found through tons of trial and error that focusing on worth rather than cost is the best way to get people to buy.

There is no strategic advantage to being the 2nd lowest-cost provider.

So if you can’t be the Walmart of your industry, I highly recommend focusing on being the most valuable in terms of your “worth”

It finally happened… the 2 Comma Club Award is ours!

I’ve been dreaming of winning one of these awards for nearly 3 years and figured out a plan to leverage our system with Clickfunnels so we would be eligible to win.

If you don’t know what the 2 Comma Club award is, it’s sort of like the Oscars of digital marketing. It’s given to people/companies who do over $1 million through 1 sales funnel.

Out of nearly 150,000 Clickfunnels members, less than 900 have won this award and we’re so grateful to be among those winners.

The coolest part is we did this without a big social media following and without ANY paid ads which is the primary methodology for most of the other winners.

This was ALL done through our cold email system which is responsible for putting 50+ meetings on our calendar on autopilot every month (we’re ramping this up to +120/month this year).

Up next is the 2 Comma Club X Award which is for companies that have done over 10 Million through one funnel.

If you want to get a free walkthrough of exactly how we did this, I’d be happy to jump on a Zoom call and show you behind the curtain.

Did you figure out your 2023 marketing budget?

If you did, I’m curious as to how you arrived at the number?

Most companies pick something they can “afford” and that is the budget.

When people ask me what my marketing budget is, I tell them it’s infinite.

That makes some people scratch their heads.

The truth is, if you have systems in place to measure your marketing effectively and can attribute specific marketing efforts to ROI, you should be able to identify what is giving you a return on your investment.

When you have a system where you put $1 in and get $10 out, why would you stop after you reach your “budget”.

Of course, you HAVE to have systems in place to be able to track your campaigns so you know what is producing ROI and unfortunately most companies don’t have those systems set up.

AND some companies have long sales cycles so the $1 they put in today won’t return anything for months to come.

That said, I urge you for 2023 to spend some time setting up tracking systems so you can identify what is giving you the best bang for your buck.

Just start out by tracking these things:
CPL (Cost Per Lead)
CPA (Cost Per Appointment)
Close Rate (Percentage of Sales Closed)
Average Customer Value (The average you make from each sale)

That should help you figure out which campaigns are producing a positive ROI pretty quickly.

I hope this helps!
