HOW TO DESIGN A LOGO THAT DOESN'T SUCK!

"There are some teams and logos you see, no matter where you are in the world, and you know exactly who they are and what they mean" - LeBron James

It appears on your business cards, letterhead, website, clothing, envelopes and flyers.

Wherever your business promotes itself, your logo will also be.

Your logo design is the first impression potential customers will have of your business.

For this reason alone, it's important that your logo invokes a favourable message or you risk losing business before it's even begun.

Below are the 3 critical laws of successful logo design:

1) Logo Design Must Represent Your Organization

It's important that the logo reflects your organization honestly and uniquely.

It's not unheard of for companies to be using logos that are extremely alike to their local competitors which can both confuse your customers and lack any differentiation.

Instead, your logo must ensure that your business stands out from the crowd and enables your audience to identify you in a matter of seconds.

2) Logo Design Must Not Be Overdone

Many people try to squeeze far too much text into a logo when the truth is: Cluttered logos aren't attractive and negatively effect your business.

What's important to remember is that a simple logo concept can be globally recognized without any additional information and will not lose any sense of clarity.

Take for example, the Nike tick symbol.

3) Logo Design Must Be Scalable

Your logo will appear in a variety of places, forms and sizes.

It's critical to have a logo that is scalable and is visually appealing no matter whether it's displayed on a small business card or a giant billboard.

That is the goal of excellent logo design.

Your logo might look great on your letterhead, but what happens when you have to reduce the size for a business card or online forum?

The rule of thumb when it comes to scalable logos, is that your logo should look good - whether on a business card or a billboard. If you can accomplish that, you have a great logo design.

When you have these three laws in place, we believe you will have a logo to be proud of.
