廿四節氣立秋代表秋天已開始，雖然這段期間氣溫仍徘徊攝氏三十多度。但因二十四節氣有小暑、大暑、處暑「三暑」，處暑於立秋後，所以天氣仍舊酷熱。
儘管港澳地區四季變化不明顯，但立秋後天氣會開始由潮濕轉乾燥，所以要潤燥。秋天五行屬金，即肺部，而且肺為嬌臟，不耐寒熱，容易被秋燥所傷，所以秋天要養肺，宜多吃滋陰潤肺的食物。

建議大家補充水分來防止腸燥便秘，因為肺與大腸相表裡，秋燥除了容易肺燥外，也容易引起腸燥，故此要多喝水。
立秋後天氣雖然開始由潮濕至乾燥，但暑熱仍未消，所以除了滋陰潤肺之外，要兼清熱去濕。
「由立秋開始至處暑，天氣仍然炎熱，飲食宜滋陰補肺之餘，要兼清熱，夏天的湯水仍要飲。至白露、秋分開始，早晚會轉涼，但日間仍然炎熱，屆時可增加飲潤燥湯水，減少飲夏天湯水。」
