3 Reasons Why Facebook Ads Are More Effective Than Boosted Posts

If you’ve ever created and/or managed a page, you’d know where to find that ubiquitous Boost A Post button because it appears on virtually all of your page’s posts. It’s quite simple to get started with boosting a post - all you have to do is just click on that button and follow the onscreen instructions. In just a few minutes you'll have your very first Facebook advert.

However, if you want more control over the creatives you can use for your advert, as well have more campaign objectives to choose from, you should use Facebook Ads. It’s more complicated, yes, but you get far more out of Facebook Ads than just a simple boosted post.

Here are three reasons why Facebook Ads are more effective than boosted posts:

1. You’re not stuck with using a boring, old post

With boosted posts, you can only boost published posts. This means that you need to write a post first, publish it, and only then can you boost it. With Facebook ads, you have so many options to choose from – you can even create dark posts which are posts that are created specifically for ads. Dark posts don’t appear on your news feed, unlike boosted posts.

2. You have plenty of choices where you want your ad to appear

Facebook Ads allow you to post your ad not just in the news feed but also in the right column, on Instagram, on the Audience Network, and more. You have a lot of options that are just not available with boosted posts. If you boost your post, it will only appear on mobile and desktop news feeds.

3. You can’t schedule your boosted post.

Though you can set an end date with your boosted post, you can’t set a start date. Once you boost your post, it will start automatically. With Facebook Ads, you can set a start and end date. This means that if you plan on being away on holiday for the next week or so, then you can schedule your ads in advance.

With that being said, boosted posts do have advantages. It’s a great way to test the waters, so to speak. You can get a taste of advertising on Facebook, but pretty soon you’d want to scale your ads. When you do, you’ll need to get up to speed with Facebook Ads and the Ads Manager.

There's no denying the reach and influence of Facebook in today's world. No other platform comes close in connecting users and companies with such ease. Facebook's newsfeed is probably where most people spend all their time on their devices. However, with recent changes in Facebook's algorithm on their Newsfeed, organic reach for Pages have been on a steep decline with some even calling it downright dead.

As a small advertiser, you'll need to put more thought into your Facebook posts and how to optimise your ad spending and improve on what works best for you.

The simplest and most convenient way to get your posts seen by a large audience is provided by Facebook itself in the Boost Post function you see. Before you click on the button, we need to tell you, "STOP! Don't waste money on Boost Post in Facebook!"

For good measure, we'll say it again - STOP WASTING MONEY ON BOOST POST IN FACEBOOK!

“But it’s so easy” - you say. Just set the general targeting (to your page’s users and location), then the total budget for the promotion. BAM, it’s running until the budget or time runs out. In fact, hundreds of thousands of page managers use the ‘Boost Post’ button to increase their post reach on a daily basis because that's the only way they know how to get it done.

So, how should you do it then?
The answer: use Ads Manager and run it as a Promoted Post.

Some of you are going, "What's Ad Manager?" Some are going "But Ads Manager is so complicated and difficult to use. I don't have the time to go through all the settings!"

So, what is a funnel?

Consider the user’s journey.

A funnel represents the series of steps a user takes from becoming aware of a product or service all the way to “converting” or becoming a paid customer, and eventually, a loyal customer and advocate.

On a website, traffic arrives upon and travels to any area (such as a page or post), while on a funnel, traffic flows linearly from one point of entry to through a sequence of actions leading to a specific goal.

(This is a generalization, and there are exceptions, but it often holds true and helps clarify the primary differences between the two.)

How do funnels and websites work together?

Websites and funnels are perfect companions in the modern digital landscape.

While websites may offer a variety of information geared toward different audience segments, funnels tend to be more and specific. In fact, many successful modern-day websites contain multiple funnels.

For example, you can use your blog or pages to drive traffic to different funnels specific to your user’s topics of interest.

Ultimately, it’s a matter of figuring out the best approach so your website and funnels complement one another.
When done effectively, both websites and funnels can elevate your business or brand, making you an unstoppable force in the marketplace.
