This is called Myocarditis / Mayo Clinic inflammation of the heart muscle, most often caused by a viral infection. The pain can be almost any and be accompanied by a rapid or irregular heartbeat, shortness of breath, weakness, swelling in the legs. Signs of a viral infection may also appear: high fever, muscle and joint pain, diarrhea or a runny nose.
This is also inflammation, but the outer shell of the heart is the pericardium. It occurs for almost the same reasons as myocarditis, and can be combined with it. Typically, pericarditis manifests itself in Pericarditis / Mayo Clinic as acute pain that worsens when a person coughs, takes a deep breath, or lies down, and lessens when they sit or lean forward.
