Joel’s Tips ‘o’ The Day
Amazon has become a powerful marketplace alongside its role as an online retailer, with more than 2.5 million third-party sellers who have become global businesses on its platform. What does that mean for you and your business?
Well, one key component that I have found to be a channel to success, is that you need to focus less on the ‘Negative Naysayers’ and more on how to Up your Game with the Positives. Tune out the ‘But They Keep Changing the Rules’ and remember that this is a business and those of us who remember that, tend to be the Winners by being nimble and working Smart. Don’t dismiss ways to cut corners from both directions. Reducing Cost to Manufacture as well as Cost to Fulfill is the best way to increase your revenue.
TIPS OF THE DAY
Two of the biggest days of the year! To deliver every gift and deal on time, make sure your inventory arrives at the fulfillment center by these dates:
For Black Friday and Cyber Monday get ‘em in by November 6. For Holidays (Peak Gift Giving) get ‘em in by December 3
• If you're printing your own labels, use high-quality printing so that barcodes aren't smudged. For more information, watch this labeling video.
• Don't print the pack list until you've reviewed and approved the shipment. Otherwise, the list might not reflect any changes that you've made, leading to errors.
• Be sure to ship to the assigned fulfillment center to avoid processing delays.
• Save time and money on shipping to Amazon by using carriers in the Partnered Carrier Program.
2. LTL/FTL
Remember to perform a gut-check every so even if you don’t have a dock door or a forklift, you can still take advantage of the partnered LTL service by requesting lift gate service from the carrier. Although all partnered LTL carriers support lift gates, they do lift-gate pickups only a few days a week, which could delay the pick-up time. To be eligible for LTL Lift Gate Service, your shipment must be under 12 pallets and less than 20,000 lbs.
